Greetings,

Welcome to the new folks. Glad to have you aboard.

Hope the soueasters out there are battening the hatches against Dennis.
Im far enough inland that hopefully Ill get by with no more than maybe
some cool lightning.

Another interesting rumor on the Aint-It-Cool-News site. Check out
Fanatics post below.

Meanwhile, BBI CrazyHorse has more TABB pics up on the site at:

http://community.webtv.net/BBI-CrazyHorse/WELCOMETOTHE

Would like to welcome Belle Fontaines site to the webring:

http://www3.cybercities.com/b/bellefontaine

While Im plugging sites, if you havent hit the FAQ yet (URL up top)
please do so, and dont hesitate to send in any additions/corrections
if you have any. Then of course theres the official BB site (URL also
up top). And then theres only TABB cast member I know of with his own
site, Pepe Serna:

http://www.pepeserna.com

And, if I may indulge in a bit of self-promotion, Im starting up a site
dedicated to the 1975 film "Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze." The character
has been brought up several times here (I consider him BBs spiritual ancestor,
as well as being a contemporary of BBs dad and mentor) so if youd like
an idea of what its all about, feel free to drop by:

http://come.to/DocSavage-TheMovie

Again, good luck to the folks Dennis may visit. Take care of yourself.

Later...

Re: Sci-Fi and BB showing...........
I have learned in the 'business' that the prevalent attitude is "well, if
they have to think, then it's too much".....in other words..........and I
have sat across conference tables with 'those in the know' and actually heard
them say that if the 'common' viewer out there in tv land has to think about
and form an opinion on what is being shown, then the viewer will become
restless and unfocused on the commercialism that is hyped on the shows and
during breaks. 'They' do not want the viewer to be anything but ready for the
cliches associated with the show and the commercials....
That is why BB was packaged to 'fit' a certain time slot and time frame. It
is no mistake that BB is being shown more.......they are conducting market
research now on the interest in BB and it's actors in preparation for the new
proposed series.......

Greetings, this was given to me at work,it sounds like something Buckaroo
would like:

BUTT PRINTS IN THE SAND

One night I had a wondrous dream,
One set of footprints there was seen,
The footprints of my precious Lord,
But mine were nowhere along the shore.

But then some stranger prints appeared,
And I asked the Lord, "What have we here?
Those prints are large and round and neat,
"But Lord, they are too big for feet."

"My child," He said in somber tones,
"For miles I carried you alone.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made me wait."

"You disobeyed, you would not grow,
The walk of faith, you would not know,
So I got tired, I got fed up,
And there I dropped you on your butt!"

"Because in life, there comes a time,
When one must fight, and one must climb,
When one must rise and take a stand,
Or leave their butt prints in the sand."

Dear all,

The following is my department's official endorsement of KoSo's request of
funds to develop the "Mellowizer" project.

While I question the comment that development of the "Mellowizer" will
reduce the number of marijuana-related deaths (it is my understanding that
there are NO marijuana-related fatalities on record), the benefits of such a
device are obvious.

Further, I suggest someone contact Mrs. Johnson and petition the Banzai
Institute to begin long range investments in processed cheese production
concerns and telescope manufacturing outfits.

Yours sincerely,

From:	Dot Warnr

BBI Miss Rachel here,
I wanted to respond to two points in last week's newsletter.

1)The chat room is in actuality a room called BUCKAROO, as the way
talkcity.com works, when you put the space in the room name is the first
word.

2) The Mellowizer sounds like one of the inventions that Bruce Wayne of Wayne
industries would not fund for possible hacking into the system and mind
control abilities thus available to the nefarious. Our Dr. Banzai might be of
like mind on this issue.

On the one hand, the Mellowizer technology concept should be looked at in
more detail for spot use. Parolees might have to wear the Mellowizer, having
given up some of their rights by being convicted for felonies and above. SWAT
team situations might use a focused one to have the desired effect.

I do believe, however, this technology if available to the law enforcement
and government could be swiped and copied and used by people who want
"everybody to just be happy" or for mind control. The problem with
well-meaning uses, is it takes months or years to learn how to constructively
"work" while mellow [this is due to making the concept of "work" as a
voluntary duty which has real meaning to the "worker" rather than an outside,
compelling force]. Most people who have attained a "center" or mellowness do
so a bit at a time, and thus learn to manage their economic and other
responsibilities in "mellow mode."

I think it would be too easy for the "well meaning" or not so well meaning to
apply the mellowizer to people who have not yet learned how to prioritize
their responsibilities. Think about emergency room doctors not showing up for
work? Think about parents not picking up their children from school, etc.

Again, I also believe this technology could be easily modified for
"suggestive hypnosis" type of mind control.

In today's world mellow discussion is important, as are actions that can make
life better for everyone.

Consider: Emergency room doctors with 6 hour shifts who are very fresh, have
a lunch break and then do rounds. [one form of job sharing] This kind of
strategy can be applied to many kinds of jobs and lifestyles.

Consider: The good work of talk show hosts Oprah Winfrey and Rosie O'Donnel
who have both raised awareness for charity work, personal insights,
communication and make a comfortable living for themselves at the same time.
While distribution of wealth is a loaded topics and could go on forever, one
has to give them credit for spurring the actions of others while also
providing both a format for mellowness and an occasional advisor who can
bring insight to a persons "peace" or "center".

Finally consider: physical activities, especially chi-related (also known as
"ki" or "qi" ) martial arts activities bring a certain peacefulness in
feeling which *can* translate to peaceful, constructive, charitable actions
... if the coach, advisor, teacher, philosophy, etc. behind it is
constructive and kind.

Hope I've made a strong case.... "Don't just dream it... be it."--- However,
it will not be a painless process. Self-insight can hurt.... but then you
*can* feel better. I don't have all the answers, but I hope for some I have
pointed *a* way.

Stick with me here irregulars, this is The Deacon. I am avid comic book
collector
though i did not pick up any of the BB comics when they were released, i came
across something while going thru my collection recently that made me smile.
Everybody knows about Marvel and DC comics, well back in the 80's there were
many independent companies coming up and on of them was Comico. They ran
a series called ""Elementals"" about a group of super-types that each
possessed one elemental power - you know, fire, water, etc. It actually was a
very well written mag. Anyway while looking through issue number 20 Dec.
1987, i noticed
one of the characters was wearing a Buckaroo Banzai t-shirt. I remember i
thought it was cool when i first saw it, but the movie was still in everyones
mind then and it was just a novelty. But seeing it the other day made me
appreciate that the creator and artist ( same person ) of this comic three
years after the release of the film liked it enough to draw a BB t-shirt on
one of his major characters in several panels. Also as i look through the
rest of the Elementals issues i have i don't see that honor or event occurring
with any other films of the day. I just took a cursory look, mind you, but it
still was a look.

The artists name is Bill Willingham. He was an ok artist and as i bought each
issue, he seemed to get better, kind of like a trip we were both on and the
premise was unique. The Elementals had been human and died. Somehow they were
brought back from the dead to combat evildoers, but they were still dead. Two
beautiful girls, the blonde controlled fire, the brunette was green and was
the water element, a 14 year old boy was the earth element, a rather large
hulking collection of dark boulders, kind of like the THING. And the Blonde
hunk who could fly and controlled the air. Slightly biblical, the Elementals
regularly killed their enemies- something that gave the book a certain
realism- they werent screwin' around. Im sure some comic store in your area
will have back issues you could look at. I gotta go to work Arc, Deacon
out

**** Willingham did some work on the DC "Doc Savage" series too, if I
recall correctly. And if theres anyway you could get a scan of one or
two of those panels and send them my way... - ArcLight ****

The basic premise of the Movie is that solid matter is made up mostly of
empty space; which is hard science and fact.

Well, what if the premise of the movie is based on fact. Perhaps, in 1938,
an alien vehicle did crash in New Jersey, Orson Wells, a young journalist
just happened to be in the area. Looking to make a name for himself, he
reports an alien invasion. Then, captured by the aliens, he's brainwashed
and changes his story to a radio show hoax.

Hmm.....

**** To quote a letter from Mr. Welless attorney in the back of the
TABB novelization; At no time was he contacted by said aliens, although
he does not deny the possibility that he was hypnotized... The truth
may never be known. - ArcLight ****

Greetings all!

Well another week has gone by piecing together my BB web site. I'm still
struggling with linking sound files and am just about to give up on
them. I have many more steps to do before sending it off to my server,
but rest assured I will let this newsletter know the URL when I'm up and
running. It would sure be nice for the 100 issue, wouldn't it, fingers
crossed!

The GABBs/ BB chats are still going strong and you are invited to them!

Howdy Fellow Buckaroos!

It time again for a good old, sit around the camp fire, roosting
marshmallows
kind of chat!
Bring your favorite beverage along and pull up a log, it's gabbing time!

We will be at: http://home.talkcity.com/

Wednesday September 1st, evening 6 PM PST/9 PM EST

The next GABB/BB chat room opportunity will be;
Saturday September 4th, morning 9 AM PST/12 PM EST

Once you get to the above site the instructions are:
Click on "chat" on the black strip near the top of the front page.
Then go to "If you already know the room you want to chat in?
Enter here:", type in "BUCKAROO BANZAI" (all caps) and click on "Go!"
From there you'll have to type in a user name in the "not a member yet"
area.
This site won't like "BBI(space) your name" as a user name. So I suggest
that you use a "-" between "BBI" and your name (like "BBI-Dragon") or
just use your name alone. Some servers do not like the "-" between "BBI"
& name".
You'll just have to find out what works for you.
Then click on "chat".

Chats will last for around two hours.

This following information comes from BBI Earth2Kim and is for those who
have computer trouble with any Java but would like to join in on the
GABBs/chats. TalkCity is accessible through both the web (as we've been
using) and IRC (short for Internet Relay Chat).
For those of you who can't get the Java to work with your browser, try
searching Yahoo for a free IRC client (Like mIRC, IRCle, Global Chat,
etc. There are a lot), download that, then do the following to get into
chat: Connect to server chat.talkcity.com then type: /join BUCKAROO
BANZAI and you should be in. Each IRC client differs from each other,
but all should be straightforward on how to change servers, create
nicknames, and get in rooms.

So, 're you comin'?
BBI Dragon

The Novel contest, the last week to enter!
I thank Crazy Horse for his entry last week.
Time is running out for this contest. There are only one more issue of
this newsletter to get your entry into. All entries must be submitted to
this newsletter and printed by the 99th issue.
Only one entry per BBI/fan please. That's one Banzai haiku or one BB
quote or saying.
I will choose one, either a haiku or a saying for receiving the novel.
I do ask however, if you already have the novel that you put your entry
in as "noncompetitive" so that the novel is given to someone who doesn't
already have a copy.
The BB saying does not have to be original. It can be from another
source.
The Banzai haiku, is a short verse of three lines, first of 5 syllables,
second of 7 syllables and the third of 5 again. This is the basic guide
line and can be expanded upon by the adventurous.

Don't forget that there is the E-mail community for the truly devoted BB
fans. Go to: http://www.onelist.com/ and sign up! Join the 80-ish
members who send and receive e-mail from each other, often daily.

To BBI KoSo, I love the idea for "The Mellowizer". I'll put in a few
words of encouragement to the Boss in hopes that it will help in your
funding. Any chance there could be an automobile attachment kit for
those road ragers out there? I'd love to have one on my car!

Until next issue, thanks.

Always True Blue,
BBI Dragon

A random novel quote: Reno, "I have, over the years, seen Buckaroo
Banzai do many uncanny things, even mysterious things. That is not to
say that I believe in the preternatural, for I believe quite the
contrary...My point is this: The preternatural of today is the science
of tomorrow. Mysteries will be solved, the proper adjustments made, and
humankind will go in to new discoveries. This is the bracing challenge
at every stage of human history."

                               Chapter Four

Shiwain Kahn sat upon the royal throne of Shamballa popping fruits no
man had ever laid eyes on outside of the mystical city into his mouth. A
guard. dressed in a warrior's armor, centuries out of date, entered the
throne room.

"My Kahn, your guests have arrived," the guard said bowing low.

        "Good, send them in."

        "Yes, my Kahn."

Two more Asian men entered the room.

"AH, the infamous Hanoi Xan himself, and Mr. Hi, so good of you both
to come. I trust your accommodations suit you quite nicely?"

"Yes, quite nicely indeed," Xan replied, "I must say Kahn, this place
is quite marvelous. What men would not pay for such wonders as you have here
back in my world."

"Yes, a pity that bringing it back to the Western world would arouse
too much suspicion or I would be a very rich man. I must settle for ruling
this kingdom of wonders instead."

"Not a bad consolation, I trust," Bon Bon Hi said.

"No, not at all. But, to business. You both, I assume, know of the
joining of one Doctor Buckaroo Banzai and one, Kwai Chaing Caine?"

        "Yes," both men replied.

"Well, it seems that they're planning a visit to Shamballa and they're
bringing along an old... acquaintance of mine, so to speak. What I propose
is an alliance gentlemen. I need someone on the outside, in your world, to
delay them while I stay here and prepare for their arrival."

"And exactly what is it that we shall receive from this alliance?"

"You Mr. Xan, I believe that the last time you tried to go up against
Buckaroo Banzai, he had you killed didn't he."

"A reasonable facsimile at any rate."

"How would you like a second chance to destroy him hmmm?"

"A tempting offer, but I assure you, I need no assistance in catching
and destroying the great Buckaroo Banzai."

"Ah, but, with the men that he has gathered, that could prove quite
difficult indeed. I believe you are familiar with the criminal know as the
Green Hornet?"

"Yes, he and his assistant have for some reason decided to join Banzai
recently."

"And as Mr. Hi here can tell you, Kwai Chaing Caine will prove just
as much of a problem once you go up against them."

        "So what do you suggest?"

"I can give you technology that even the minds at the Banzai
Institute cannot match, the technology you need to destroy Banzai and his
team."

"And what of me, Kahn," Bon Bon Hi asked, "what do you offer in return
for my assistance?"

"Patience Mr. Hi, so quick to go for your share. For your part in
this, I offer you power once I have used the technology hidden here to spread
my reign across the globe as my ancestor did, and more men to replace those
who have abandoned your wise leadership for that of your former right hand."

"Very well, I accept your proposal Kahn," Xan said bowing.

"As do I," Hi joined in doing the same.

"As I knew you would. Good day gentlemen, my servants will escort
you both back to your rooms, feel free to wander about the city as you
please, and let me know if anything... strikes your fancy, so to speak."

The guard returned and ushered both men out of the room. From another
door, Kahn's advisor entered.

"Sir, we've found Fatma Tajem and the Comtese De Zazinia, they will
arrive shortly."

"Good, prepare their rooms. Perhaps their wills will prove more of a
challenge for me to control than those two fools feeble minds did."

        "Yes, my Kahn."

Kahn's advisor walked out of the room.
