Greetings,

Well, hope you got to see BB on S-F if you needed
too. I'm thinking maybe it'd be nice to drop by
the S-F Channel's web site and drop a quick 'thank
you' email. Even though they did destroy the end
march to show commercials over it. WCL inspired,
I'm sure.

Hope to "meet" some more of you in the GABBs this
week. See Dragon's post for details if you're new.

And if you're new, a glorious welcome to you.
Glad to have you aboard. Glad to have the old
fogies aboard too.

Later...

Okay, here goes...
Buckaroo - David Boreanaz (Angel on Buffy). Sorry, but I think Aries
has too much of a gleeful, evil-as-fun air about him.
Perfect Tommy - I agree with Rhian, but only because I can't think of
someone better, though I love Spike!
Penny Priddy - the young girl/woman on Dawson's Creek, the blonde one
who is sexually mature/desperate/naive (name escapes me)
And I think that we can find some use for Kevin Sorbo, somehow,
somewhere! Maybe Rawhide's younger brother??

BTW, just got my copy of BB on VHS through ebay, and now my 9 year old
son is running around saying, "laugh-a while you can, Monkey-Boy!"

From:	Dot Warnr

BBI Miss Rachel here-

This week's coverage of a large Hispanic group/coalition may help bring the
pilot/TV movie of BB to fruition.

Reno Nevada, as originally played by Pepe Serna, is described as being a very
bright and versatile Super-scientist, accomplished author, plays saxophone in
the popular cover-band the Hong Kong Cavaliers, and acts as the audience's
narrator (at least in the book). Anyone else on what he does? He is
definitely equally a right hand man/buddy to Buckaroo as is his Caucasian
counterpart Rawhide.

Going into more detail:
While Rawhide seems to be a scientist (computers?) and chief roadie of the HK
Cavaliers (and high up on security planning and implementation), and Perfect
Tommy appears to coordinate the paramilitary efforts/security, Reno is the
official chronicler of Team Banzai and also appears to be the overall
coordinator of the Institute... which includes security. He apparently has
some commando training.

This is a group with a "big 5." Do you remember in Star Trek how Kirk, Spock
and McCoy were the "big 3?" Well, while there are multiple relationships
going on with the show (hmm, the appeal of a "Sports Night"?) and fluid group
overlapping relations, I see the "core" of Buckaroo and his contemporaries
being The Boss (aka Buckaroo), Rawhide, New Jersey, Perfect Tommy, and Reno.

Connections of the main characters:
Rawhide is the childhood friend, and New Jersey is the medical school friend,
we're not sure where Perfect Tommy comes in but I kinda see him as an
ex-child prodigy similar to "Jared" of "The Pretender" but with a bigger ego
and more musical experience. Reno is the scientist-adventurer equal of
Buckaroo, who chose a role of support under a grand idea. Still inr* point of
view:
Not that Professor Hikita isn't important, nor should we understate the
contributions of Mrs. Johnson, the tactical communications team (World Watch
One), the band, and the many members of the BBIs, but stories to be told
will probably center around these five.

In conclusion:
One can hope that Reno being one of two second in commands (with Rawhide.
Perfect Tommy is sorta 2.5 and New Jersey isn't in the chain of command, he's
there for the ride) in the story will help the effort to get it into
production.

Lady Rhian Comments to this:
"Don't forget Reno's girlfriend Pecos. She was supposedly part of the core
group as well, even though we never see her. I mean, NJ hardly knew anything,
but he throught Reno was Pecos. Which implies she was famous enough to be
known."

Okay, it's past time I made this official.
I honestly don't remember when the first time I saw TABB was, I think it
might have been at a sci-fi convention not long after it first came
out. Love at first sight! My brother actually joined the original
World Watch One, I followed along with all the info he got. I guess you
could say I was a BBI at heart, it just wasn't official. I do a search
every once in a while just to see what's up, and found your site and the
Institute's. I am positively electrified at the news of a possible
series on FOX. ( I never thought I'd be glad about the film and tv
industries habit of recycling old ideas!) Oh, I'm not much for picking
names for myself. That's usually better if someone else bestows the
name on a person I think. Just call me BBI Barbara.

Greetings all, it's espresso in the Jet Car mug this week!

On the topic of the GABBs, the one last Wednesday evening was our first
try at the chat room on Rafterman's site. Unfortunately, several of us,
including myself, had trouble with this chat room and so, we will not be
using it in the future. We'll go back to TalkCity for the BB chats.
I'm fiddling with the timing of the GABBs an hour here and there to try
and make it more convenient for the fans to gather at the chats.

Gathering All Blue Blazes (GABB)
You are inviting to join us at one of the regularly scheduled Buckaroo
Banzai chats.
They will be at: http://home.talkcity.com/
The BB chat room will be;

Wednesday August 18th, evening 6 PM PST/9 PM EST

The next GABB/BB chat room opportunity will be;
Saturday August 21st, morning 9 AM PST/12 PM EST

PLEASE NOTE: the times of the GABBs has changed to one hours earlier on
Wednesday evenings and one hour later on Saturday morning.

Once you get to the above site the instructions are:
Click on "chat" on the black strip near the top of the front page.
Then go to "If you already know the room you want to chat in? Enter
here:", type in "BUCKAROO BANZAI" (all caps) and click on "Go!"
From there you'll have to type in a user name in the "not a member yet"
area.
This site won't like "BBI(space) your name" as a user name. So I suggest
that you use a "-" between "BBI" and your name (like "BBI-Dragon") or
just use your name alone. We have discovered that some servers do not
like the "-" between "BBI" & "name". You'll just have to find out what
works for you.
Then click on "chat".

Chats will last for around two hours.

I'm looking forward to chatting with you, believe it!

Another topic:
The Novel contest.
Looks like I've gotten 2 more entries from last week for the contest. I
know that B. Banzai can be quoted as saying, "Time, I've got nothing but
time."
But time is running out for this contest. Thanks Banzai SGI and BBI
Theta-E for your entries. I am assuming that neither of you have the
novel, right? So far everyone who's entered seems to be a "competitive"
entry. Remember, just for fun, anyone can enter a quote or haiku and
make it noncompetitive if you already have a copy of the novel.

All entries must be submitted to this newsletter and printed by the 99th
issue.
Only one entry per BBI/fan please. That's one Banzai haiku or one BB
quote or saying.
I will choose one, either a haiku or a saying for receiving the novel.
I do ask however, if you already have the novel that you put your entry
in as "noncompetitive" so that the novel is given to someone who doesn't
already have a copy.
The BB saying does not have to be original. It can be from another
source.
The Banzai haiku, is a short verse of three lines, first of 5 syllables,
second of 7 syllables and the third of 5 again. This is the basic guide
line and can be expanded upon by the adventurous.

Don't forget that there is the E-mail community for the truly devoted BB
fans. Go to: http://www.onelist.com/ and sign up! Join the 81 members
who send and receive e-mail from each other, sometimes daily.

Until next issue, thanks all.
Always True Blue,
BBI Dragon

A random novel quote: On board the World Watch One bus, Big Norse
listens to the Adder signal in her headphones and write out two
words-Nova Police.
"Tell them we have a message for John Emdall," Buckaroo said.
"In their code?" Big Norse asked.
Buckaroo assented, "In their code, their language, whatever it is. Tell
them it's urgent.
While she sent the message, Buckaroo simultaneously placed a call to the
President. It was the first the outside world would learn of our
extraordinarily perilous situation and the expedition we were embarked
upon.

Part Three
Chapter Three

"Boss there's a problem. I can only find the Mojo strike team, everyone
else has disappeared, all of them on business," Tommy said over the go phone.

"What about the Kolodney's and the Rug Suckers?"

"Everyone. When we got back, all we found was a note saying that something
came up and they'd be back in a few days. Savage and his team left and
answering machine message saying pretty much the same thing. What the hell
is going on here Buckaroo?"

"I don't know, but it's too well orchestrated to be a coincidence, someone's
planning all this, trying to distract us. Look, the Nacht Kinder are only a
few hours away form here, I'll go pick them up on my way back."

"Aw come on Buckaroo, do you have to bring in the Unholy Rollers on this one?
I swear Greg's the devil."

"Um, Tommy, I wouldn't say that kind of stuff right now if I were you."

"Why?"

"Cause heeeeeeeeeerrrrsss SATAN!" Infinity cried in the background.

"Um, I meant that in the nicest possible way, I mean um..."

"Tommy just get Mojo and his people over to the compound and brief them while
I get the Unhol... I mean the Kinder."

"But do you have to bring Dazed, I mean she's obsessed with me, she never
leaves me alone."

"Well why wouldn't she be, I mean you're perfect after all."

"Why yes, I am aren't I."

"Buckaroo turned off the go phone."

"Sorry about that, Greg, Tommy's a little less than enthusiastic about seeing
you all."

"Well, what did I expect, I mean the last time dazed tied him up with her
feather boa and refused to let him go until he'd go out with her."

"Thank god for liquid ether huh?"

"Quite."

"You're sure the rest of the Nacht Kinder are still around?"

"Yes, unless the Hidden sent them somewhere while I was away."

"What's the Hidden?" Evlyn asked, coming to check on Infinity.

"You mean who. He sends us info on where we're needed. No one's ever seen
him and known it, however, and we only get information form him over a pirate
short wave radio station, broadcast form somewhere out in the deserts of the
southwest."

"So basically, you take orders from someone, you don't know who, that gives
you information from a radio station, where, you don't know, and just hands
you the information which may, or may not be correct does that about sum it
up?"

"Well, except for the part about may or may not be correct, yes. He's never
been wrong."

"Look, Evlyn, get everyone together, we'd better get going, I think
Infinity's O.K. to travel."

"Excuse me Dr. Banzai," Caine said.

"Please, Buckaroo."

"Buckaroo, was this an important part to your automobile?" Caine held up the
overthruster.

"What?!? Damnit, it must have been knocked off when the car fell. Every
damn time," Buckaroo muttered.

"No one cares about quality anymore," Azrael said.

"We'll have to drive all the way back to Detroit now to pick up the rest of
the Kinder," Infinity said.

"Yes, and then drive all the way back to the Institute."

"So let's get started already."

Buckaroo started the car.

"Well at least something works around here," Infinity remarked.

"Infinity, why do you use those nightstick stunguns anyway," Evlyn asked as
the car traveled along the highway, "Most of the Blazers seem to prefer
lethal ordinance."

"I'm not old enough yet to be approved for lethal ordinance unless it's a
full scale assault, but I did equip them with tazers for longer distances
though."

"Speaking of full scale assaults, I didn't tell you about our mission yet."
