Greetings,

Welcome to the first World Watch OnLine on the first
day of the first month of the 2000s.
(millenium or no, makes no never mind to me, it's still
pretty cool to no longer be using '19' in a date any
more)

Been pretty quiet lately, no surprise this time of year.

Would like to welcome a new site to the webring:

http://members.tripod.com/wiznerowski/box.html

Check out BBI Blotto's work there.

Any other BB pages out there want to join the ring,
please feel free. Link is at the World Watch page
(and the link for that, along with the FAQ and the
Official BB site are up top).

To celebrate the new year I'm starting a BB calendar
on the site. January is up now. There's no link on
the page to it, this is just a little goodie for
List members. Find it at:

And of course, Happy New Year!

Later...

Actually, I can't vouch for anything but the bank ads, and the whole of
that is a long story, only partially relevant to the issue at hand.

Some several years ago, Stomp and I had a joint account at a local
savings and loan. Said institution was bought out by Boatman's Bank,
which later was "forced by federal regulations" to split up operations
into several regional groups. Our account got transfered to the next
region over, and we had to travel about 100 miles to do the paperwork
(fax wasn't good enough) to get our money out. Suffice it to say I began
to entertain the notion that the World Crime League may have had its
fingers in the Boatman's pie for awhile there (or at least that regional
subdivision of it), and kept a watch on the local branches since.

About the time that the whole debit card thing spread into this area
(some 5 years ago, I believe), replacing the old ATM cards, the slogan
"Wherever you go, there we are." started popping up on just about every
Boatman's ATM machine in the St. Louis metro. Here it remained until
earlier this last year, when Bank of America bought Boatman's out. The
tag line came off the ATMs several months sooner than the Boatman's logo
did.

In a side note, about the same time as all of this went down, I was
driving in the downtown area and noticed another bank sign altogether. As
far as I can tell without asking them, it's a local outfit; what caught
my eye wasn't an ad but rather their logo, which consists of a pair of
black "B"s, back to back on a white circle. Interestingly enough (from
the typographic point of view at least), these are very rounded "B"s with
an obvious separation, and the upper section is proportionately smaller
than the lower section -- rather like a cross between the BB of the
Institute's seal and the BB we've seen on the Blue Blaze patch. More than
this, I cannot report.

As for Pepe Serna, he also appeared as a Colombian drug lord across a 3
episode arc of Miami Vice some years ago, and carried off as abhorrent a
characterization as one could hope to see. Perhaps some of this isn't so
much Reno's shady past as a bit of undercover work he's done on behalf of
Team Banzai. Something to think about, perhaps...

I'll see what I can do. It may be that I take a
regular photo and send it to another BBI with the
equipment and skill to digitize it.

I'm going to check the Cellular One web page first.
