Mike wasn't the one that put that stuff into Battletech...although I know he
had fun putting in it since he likes BB as well...but it was Jordan Weisman
who put it in almost from the start...Jordan and Ross Babcock were the
designers of Battledroids that became Battletech and the IP that it is
today...

I personally own an exceedingly rare piece of cross-memorabilia...At Origins
(an annual game convention that is quite large) in '96, they had a small
number of black ball caps that had the "BB" and "Team Banzai -- Battletech"
on them...I pestered the guy at the booth until he sold me one...and I still
have it today...

FASA eventually dropped the Banzai references due to the obvious concerns
about a lawsuit...:D

Ok so I found the Red Lectroid model and I got to thinking why not try to
build
the jetcar. There isn't a kit available, so I would have to scratch build
one.
Does anyone know the inside scoop on the jetcar? What year truck is it? I
know
the jet engine worked, what kind was it and does anyone have any detailed
stills or video caps that they might be willing to share. This has kind of
made
me interested to see if I could produce a reasonable copy.

Thais in advance

A quick note for those who are having a hard time finding BB on VHS video.

I just did a search on EBay.com for both "Buckaroo Banzai" and "Buckaroo
Bonzai" (which is the way it's spelled on the Vestron video label). I found
no less than a dozen copies for sale, and none of them very expensive. One
was $9. Another is currently at $7.

There were also copies of the comic and the novel. Some cheap. Some not.

This is not an ad for Ebay (though I've had very good luck with them on other
products). But do take a look there, or the Amazon.com auction, or any of the
other on-line auction sites. You don't have to pay any more than you want,
and it is relatively secure.

Any questions, feel free to drop me a line. BBISharkey@AOL.com

Happy hunting.

Sharkey

P.S. Please remember there is no such thing as an official BB sound track.
Any CD out there claiming to be the soundtrack is an illegal bootleg. The
only licensed recording is the "cover" versions of the main and closing
titles on Neil Norman's sci-fi music CD.

**** Usually, when I do a search I check buckaroo and banzai individually.
Not many folks misspell both when putting up a listing, and theres usually
not enough other hits to make finding the real stuff a pain. - ArcLight ****

Hi!

I remember receiving the paper newsletter a very very long time ago, but
then it stopped coming and I didn't think that much was happening any
more. So I'm very pleased to see a lot of BB material on the web; I
wish I'd thought of looking here sooner.

I saw the movie when it first came out, in Boise, Idaho, in the early
1980s, and was hooked immediately. I was playing a lot of Traveller
then (and have been involved in Traveller ever since, although more
reading and writing and less playing lately), and the two milieux meshed
in some interesting ways sometimes. I still wear a Team Banzai jet car
patch on my army jacket, and have a Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems patch on
a hat. I also made business cards to give to other Traveller players I
meet that identify me as general counsel to Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems,
a subsidiary of GSbAG, LIC, which is a corporation in the Traveller
universe.

In ordinary life, I'm a lawyer practicing complex business, corporate,
and securities litigation. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I
ski, hike, and practice martial arts.

Thank you!

Greetings all!

A few notes concerning " http://www.team-banzai.net/".
My host and I are working on a few bugs in the site, as time allows.
Like, how to get to Club 88. There is a "back door" to to the club on
page #4 of the online fanzine Out Of The Blue, below the recipe for
Karakoumiss, it's a text link that looks like "Club 88 Menu". From there
you can check out the whole club. Two point, the bulletin board isn't
working yet, nor are the email links to "dragon@team-banzai.net".
So, if you would like to email me personally about the site or send me a
contribution/BBI photo/what have you, then use my usual email addy for
now: alandsmith@uswest.net, please! Well keep working on the site,
believe it!

A note about the BB GABBs/chats.
I think there has been a misunderstanding about what we all gabb about.
These sessions are more of a "get to know your fellow BBIs" than chat
about exclusively BB topics. We have run the gambit of topics in the
last weeks from, the weather, favorite restaurants and recipes, to our
opinions of tv shows and films to the US postal service and hobbies &
vices. So you can see that the BB GABBs are not just about BB, they
really are much more of an opportunity to share personal ideas and
opinions. Lurking is also acceptable. Please come join to fun!

Usual BB GABB info will be at the bottom of my weekly posts (from now
on).

Always True Blue,
BBI Dragon

Random novel quote,
Reno, "Technically speaking, although B. Banzai's surname is Japanese,
both he and Xan can trace their ancient lineage back to the steppes of
Mongolia, back to that race of aggressive Asiatics who from the fourth
to the seventeenth century struck terror n the hearts of Europeans."

GABB info;
Howdy Fellow Buckaroos!
(please see "Freeze up" below for more trouble shooting with the chats)

It time again for a good old, sit around the camp fire, roasting
marshmallows kind of chat!
Bring your favorite beverage along and pull up a log, it's gabbing time!

We will be at: http://home.talkcity.com/

Wednesday September 29th, evening 6 PM PST/9 PM EST
and,
Saturday October 2nd, morning 9 AM PST/12 PM EST

Once you get to the above site the instructions are:
Click on "chat" on the black strip near the top of the front page.
Then go to "If you already know the room you want to chat in?
Enter here:", type in "BUCKAROO" (all caps) and click on "Go!"
From there you'll have to type in a user name in the "not a member yet"
area.
This site won't like "BBI(space) your name" as a user name. So I suggest
that you use a "-" between "BBI" and your name (like "BBI-Dragon") or
just use your name alone. Some servers do not like the "-" between "BBI"
& name".
You'll just have to find out what works for you.
Then click on "chat".

Chats will last for around two hours but often go longer.

This following information comes from BBI Earth2Kim and is for those who
have computer trouble with any Java but would like to join in on the
GABBs/chats. TalkCity is accessible through both the web (as we've been
using) and IRC
(short for Internet Relay Chat). For those of you who can't get the Java
to work with your browser, try searching Yahoo for a free IRC client
(Like mIRC, IRCle, Global Chat, etc. There are a lot), download that,
then do the following to get into chat: Connect to server
chat.talkcity.com then type: /join BUCKAROO BANZAI and you should be in.
Each IRC client differs from each other, but all should be
straightforward on how to change servers, create nicknames, and get in
rooms.

Regarding the BB GABBs/chat rooms:
It has come to my attention that a few people are having trouble finding

and entering the BB chats. One trick seems to be to instead of entering

the name of the chat room you wish to join (BUCKAROO), try to "create
your own chat room" using "BUCKAROO" as the name and that should get you
into the existing room if one is already up and running.

"Freeze up" This is a problem that I myself some times have with the
chat room at TalkCity. Basically what happens is that the screen freezes
up for periods of time ranging from 45 seconds to several minutes. Then
you get a flood of posts and you can post until the freeze up occurs
again. My suggestion for this problem is to first, don't try to run
other applications while in the chat room. Even checking email has
seemingly caused this problem with myself. To fix the problem I have had
luck leaving the TalkCity site (when I'm "unfrozen") and then go back
and re-log in to the BUCKAROO chat room. On occasion I have had the
freeze up problem so bad that I've had to shut off the power to my
computer and restart, then get back online and go back to TalkCity. The
problem usually doesn't come back after doing this extreme "fix".
