Greetings,

Well...here it is, a hundred issues and over 3 years. Yeah, the first ish, while
I dont have an exact date, was mailed sometime near the beginning of Feb.
1996. Imagine what it must have been like then...then...then...then...

Well...it was alot like it is now, really. Just more people, now.

In a bit of celebration, the winners to Dragons novel contest are
announced below.

Would really have loved to have some outstanding news for this ish, like
the show being officially greenlighted with a filming date, but no such luck.
Things are proceeding and thats about it. I know this stuff takes time, but
Ive never waited on a show with this much anticipation before, so its
rough.

For those that dont remember, Starlog was pretty kind to BB, with plenty
of articles and cast/crew interviews. It was this coverage that got me hyped,
knowing I had to see this film. I mention this only because I was kicking
around on the web over the weekend and decided to check for a Starlog site.
Not only do they have back issues for sale, but most of the BB issues are
only $5.00. Good time to complete your collection, using the recently
updated FAQ to see which issues they are. And if youve got BB articles
or reviews not mentioned on the FAQ, let myself or Figment know, kay?

Later...
ArcLight

The red hot Ellen Barkin graces the cover of the new issue of "Smoke"
magazine (one of the many cigar magazines that have popped up in the
last couple of years). There is also
about a 5 page article with several great photos. If you can't find a
copy of the
magazine, an abbreviated version appears (with a couple of photos) at
their online site
at www.smokemag.com/0699/cover.htm

Greetings Irregulars,

After applying the following principles for a few months,
I must admit it has had a profound affect on my life. These
come from the Novel (near the beginning, right by the other
_very_ important Buckaroo advice: "Conciousness is the
impotent shadow of action.")

Buckaroo's Principles are: The Five Stresses, The Four Beauties,
and The Three Loves.

The Five Stresses
-------------------------------
The five things to be stressed are: decorum, courtesy,
public health, discipline, and morals.

The Four Beauties
-------------------------------
The beauties of mind, language, behavior, and environment.

The Three Loves
-------------------------------
The love of others, the love of justice, and the love of freedom.

Try them for a week, and you'll be hooked.
Thanks,
Fizz

Cool.
Thanks for the info.
I looked around for a Jetcar for many moons, to no avail.
I also looked into Ford F-series truck models that perhaps could be modified.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find one of the correct generation.
This would make any conversion very difficult, indeed.

I confess -- it was my poster. I broke (most of) the cipher on the
Kryptos sculpture at CIA, and CBS Evening News interviewed me in my
office. I have it on videotape, but I don't have capture capability.
The poster is the big one: the 5-foot-tall lobby poster for the
big theaters. My headband is also wrapped around the top of my
computer. I was very pleased that they included it... when the Today
Show interviewed me, the first thing they did was take down the
picture ("We wouldn't be able to explain it to the audience.") and
project a bland pattern on the wall.

Okay, those are all the wonderful entries in the novel contest! I wish
to thank everyone who took the time to write something and enter. As an
added bonus to all, I'm going to use these in my up coming BB web site.
If you'd rather I didn't use yours, let me know and I will not.

Drum roll please....

And the winner of the Buckaroo Banzai novel is:
BBI Earth2Kim - Congratulations! Please email me privately with your
mailing address.

Runner up is BBI Dragonstear for the interesting quote from the past
that Buckaroo certainly could have said. I offer you one of the
following to add to your TABB collections of memorabilia; the two issue
BB comic book or a View Master 3 reel set from the film or the BB magic
optical illusion trick toy. Pick one and let me know via e-mail, I'll
need a mailing address.

Now on to other things.

The BB GABBS/chats are going very well. We seem to often go for longer
than the 2 hours. In fact, one of the recent GABBs went for nearly 4
hours! So, if you think you are too late some Wednesday evening or
Saturday morning/early afternoon, drop by Talk City and check in to see
if we are still chatting.

Howdy Fellow Buckaroos!
(please see "new note" below for those having trouble entering the
chats)

It time again for a good old, sit around the camp fire, roasting
marshmallows kind of chat!
Bring your favorite beverage along and pull up a log, it's gabbing time!

We will be at: http://home.talkcity.com/

Wednesday September 15th, evening 6 PM PST/9 PM EST

The next GABB/BB chat room opportunity will be;
Saturday September 18th, morning 9 AM PST/12 PM EST

Once you get to the above site the instructions are:
Click on "chat" on the black strip near the top of the front page.
Then go to "If you already know the room you want to chat in?
Enter here:", type in "BUCKAROO" (all caps) and click on "Go!"
From there you'll have to type in a user name in the "not a member yet"
area.
This site won't like "BBI(space) your name" as a user name. So I suggest
that you use a "-" between "BBI" and your name (like "BBI-Dragon") or
just use your name alone. Some servers do not like the "-" between "BBI"
& name".
You'll just have to find out what works for you.
Then click on "chat".

Chats will last for around two hours, but often go for more, so check in
and see if we are still GABBing.

This following information comes from BBI Earth2Kim and is for those who
have computer trouble with any Java but would like to join in on the
GABBs/chats. TalkCity is accessible through both the web (as we've been
using) and IRC
(short for Internet Relay Chat). For those of you who can't get the Java
to work with your browser, try searching Yahoo for a free IRC client
(Like mIRC, IRCle, Global Chat, etc. There are a lot), download that,
then do the following to get into chat: Connect to server
chat.talkcity.com then type: /join BUCKAROO BANZAI and you should be in.
Each IRC client differs from each other, but all should be
straightforward on how to change servers, create nicknames, and get in
rooms.

New note regarding the BB GABBs/chat rooms:
It has come to my attention that a few people are having trouble finding

and entering the BB chats. One trick seems to be to instead of entering

the name of the chat room you wish to join (BUCKAROO),
try to "create your own chat room" using "BUCKAROO" as the name and that
should get you into the existing room if one is already up and running.

Okay, that's the info for the GABBs, remember that if you are on the BB
e-mail list you will also get reminders of the GABBs. You can sign up
for free at: http://www.onelist.com/

Other news: I've been working these last 4 weeks in my spare time on a
small but interesting BB site. I should have it up late next week and
the address will be:
http://www.team-banzai.net/
But don't go there until late next week please, or maybe even wait for
next weekend to check it out. I'm just telling you about it a little
early as sort of a "special" for ArcLight's 100th issue. You could call
it a "one stop Banzai site" as it features The Flying Fish Gallery -
photos and drawings, Out Of The Blue - an online fanzine with a
different approach and Club 88 - a bistro style hang out where you can
trade and leave messages about Banzai memorabilia. More details next
issue.

Always True Blue,
BBI Dragon
