Greetings,

Hope all is well.

Did some minor tweakage on the web site. Nothing to rush right over to
see, but if you do rush, theres a new URL:

http://www.worldwatchonline.com

Yep, took the plunge. Now we here at the Institute are more online than ever.

By next week I hope to have the email set up so theres specific addys for
addresses, submissions, and non-list stuff. Assuming that sounds like a
decent idea. the AOL address wont be changing tho, so no trouble if you
dont feel like changing anything.

Sorry I havent done any more major site updates lately. Lots more pictures
and stuff to post, just seem to always run out of time. Life is what happens
while youre busy making other plans and all that.

Later...
ArcLight

Howdy from the Flatlands!
Long time lurker, second time poster! I've been a fan since the beginning.
Received all the original WW1 mailings. Collected as much Banzai booty as
I could. And of course I've enjoyed the film along the way (pushing it onto
as many unsuspecting brethren as I could). But even at this late date, I
find that I am not in possesion of certain Banzai paraphernalia. Some items
actually quite common. And the unfortunate greediness of ebay has made me
embrace the fine art of barter. That's right, no money shall change hands!
Because I'm now ready to do some trading! What I have for trade are several
"extra" JET CAR ILLUSION TOYS! What I am looking for are posters (both
domestic & foreign), and believe it or not, a bandana! I know, it seems
incredulous that I never got one of the initially FREE bandanas. But it was
never just high on the list. Now look at
the RIDICULOUS price these go for. Also looking for any other stuff I don't
have I can't recall. Just tell me what you have extras of. We can all help
each other by NOT buying overpriced stuff and instead trading amoungst
ourselves. I'm quite aware of the rarity of the Jet Car Toy so don't expect
me to give them away! But I will entertain serious offers. Good day!

Salutations-

With all the talk in the last issue about seeing Banzai at the theater in
Westwood (L.A. area), I was surprised no one mentioned the film that was
playing with it. It's called "Free Enterprise" and it is too funny for words.

It's about two young science fiction film fans whose lives are guided by
their childhood impressions of Star Trek. But the day they meet William
Shatner, everything changes. The once-and-future Captain struggles to
convince them there is more to life than a 30-year-old TV show. Of course,
Shatner is on a mission of his own -- to write, direct, produce, and star in
a musical version of Julius Ceasar! (One character remarks, "That is probably
the worst idea since New Coke.")

With an average of one in-joke every 30 seconds, it does for Star Trek what
"Shakespeare in Love" did for the Bard.

And yes, there is even one, great Buckaroo Banzai joke. (You just have to be
patient to catch it.)

It's in *very* limited release, so check your local listings. Or even the
not-so-local ones. If you're a fan of sci-fi films and TV, it'll be worth
driving to see it.

Let me know what you think of it.

Hi! An idea I have had for a TABB novel is for Buckaroo to jump time while
doing a jetcar test and find himself in a period three days before his
parents die. I have put some of it to paper but find myself way tooo shy to
send it, but I know some of you out there can really fly with this idea and
make a great story. Also it would be great if some of the team somehow
manage to get sucked in with him.
Forever your humble librarian,

Hi,

You asked for info so...I am a Ph.D. in film theory. I got started on BB at
a Star Trek convention. The local group of irregulars had a table. I had
never heard of BB but wandered over because of the irregulars banner (I'm a
Sherlockian and thought they were talking about the Baker Street
Irregulars!). They had me join even though I hadn't seen it. So I went home
and watched the film. It took me three times before I figured out what the
*#*$ the plot was about (I had not yet gotten my Ph.D. in film watching!) but
I was totally hooked anyway. I've since seen it about 75 times and often use
it for examples of music and sound when I teach the intro. to film class not
to mention quote it often just in regular life.

Any info. on how to become a Blue Blaze Irregular? Are there local fan clubs
like they have for Star Trek and Sherlock Holmes? Any news would be
appreciated.

Hey there,
My name is Brian Adams and I just found the BB newsgroup and thus your
website. BB is one of a very few movies that completely captured my
imagination on the first viewing, so much so that I had to cut college
classes the next day (and I never cut classes) to go see it again.
Unfortunately I don't believe I have seen it since. I really need to get the
video. Interestingly, I now work for Dream Quest Images, the company that did
the special effects for the film. I vaguely recall seeing a few leftover
Banzai models up in the attic but I wasn't smart enough or brazen enough to
squirrel them away for safe keeping. I don't know what ever happened to them.
Anyway, I want to rekindle my admiration for the film so sign me up for the
mailing list.

Thanks.

Brian Adams
