Greetings,

What a beautiful weekend here. Almost makes up for not being able to connect
to AOL thru my ISP like usual. Which will make updating the page tricky, due
to my inherent cheapness. Dont want to pay the surcharge. For those that need
the script in TXT form instead of the DOC file thats on the World Watch site,
email me and Ill send it to you.

If it aint one thing, its another. Hope all is fine with yall.

A big welcome to the new folks. Glad to have you aboard.

Hope youve been checking out the FAQ. Its being constantly updated as
new info comes in so who knows what you may learn. And if you have anything
you feel needs added or corrected, dont hesitate to contact Figment or myself.
Hope youve also been popping by the message boards at the official BB site,
just to let them know were still here and still want this series to happen.

I try to keep real life from rearing its ugly head around here, but after all the
horrible stuff thats been going on lately, isnt it great that the three Army guys
are on their way back? To lend a hand to those still stuck in horrible conditions,
pop over to www.redcross.org. Next best thing to the Banzai Institute I guess.

Later...

Hey there!

To whoever it was that asked, several Banzai items show up on the
Amazon.com auction quite often. (Great way to replace all those things
you played with and broke as a child!) I share this information because
the auction for the item I'm battling over at the moment closes in six
minutes, and I won't have to worry about more last minute competitors.
Of course I just might regret this in the future...

Anyways, run a search in the Amazon auction section and you'll find
items. And remember to scroll through. There are multiple copies of the
film being offered; just because one up top is going for $50 or so
doesn't mean there's not another below still going for $10.

Cya!

Hey, Dragon. A contest, eh? How about... the person whose name rhymes
with "Bynthetic Bangel" wins? No. Um... (I don't suppose I could just
BUY it from you?) I've got it! Who ever writes the most rockinest
Buckaroo Banzai POEM wins! And it should rhyme! How about that? Just
make a deadline for when the poems have to be submitted by, have ArcLight
(I say all of this assuming that ArcLight's okay with it) put them in a
World Watch One newsletter, and then have all of the BBIs vote on which
they think is best (no voting for yourself! cheaters!), and then who ever
wins... wins! Depending on how many books you have to give away, I
suppose that there could be 2nd or 3rd prizes as well. Okay! There's a
contest for you! Let me (and every one else looking for the book) know!

			Thanks,

From:	figment@figmentfly.com (Sean Murphy)

Hey Gang!

I just wanted to update everyone on the Buckaroo Banzai Article I've
written for Video Watchdog Magazine. The revised second draft was sent to
them about 2 weeks ago and when it will *hopefully* be published is up to
them.

Maybe you could drop them a note, VERY POLITELY, and let them know that you
are a Buckaroo Banzai fan and that you are looking forward to the Banzai
article you read about on the Buckaroo Banzai mailing list.

Please don't bug them too much about a publishing date - Video Watchdog
only comes out once every two months, and they most likely have the next
two issues planned out. This means that the Banzai article probably
wouldn't see print until September or possibly later.

Another thing to consider is that they may decide not to use the article,
which is a possibility. Of course, I'm hoping they will use it. :-)

In case you don't know, the article compares the release verison of
Buckaroo Banzai with the workprint version and is supplemented with quotes
by the director W.D. Richter, who was kind enough to talk to me about the
film we love so much (and which he does as well)!

The Video Watchdog website is located at http://www.cinemaweb.com/videowd
and their e-mail is videowd@aol.com.

Hello!
I think that it is great that the LA area fans will get to see TABB on
the big screen.
I have only had the opportunity once. I remember a small group of us
BBIs went
to see a late night showing in a small theater. We were having a great
time following
the lines out loud and throwing in the occasional wise crack about
something that just happened.
Unfortunately not everyone was in good spirits like we were and we had
to tone it down for those
who hadn't seen the film before. Oh well, it was a hoot while it lasted.

So what's up in the Cleveland OH. area? It sounds like zzrider (a BBI
handle?) is eager to get
together with fans of TABB. Hay, how about starting out by inviting a
few friends over to
watch the video and have a good time?
I hear a rumor that the first civilian adaptation of the Oscillation
Overthruster will be on my
lawn mower so that I can save a few minutes by going through the flower
beds and trees instead
of around them. Is there any truth to this? Is Lord Worfin the good guy?
Are twinkies a health food?
I am still soliciting ideas for the contest. I have received a personal
communication from
BBI Crazyhorse that suggests an ORIGINAL zen-type saying that "could
have" came from BB.
I'm going to give you all a few more minutes to send in your ideas. I'm
waiting...
O.K., this about raps it up, until next issue remember to fasten your
seat belts and put your
tray table in the up most position.

substantial terrors of my mind
are laid to rest when he speaks to me, as he has."

Lewis Smith's shortly post-Banzai film "The Heavenly Kid" is on
the premium channel Starz several times in May, starting Saturday May 8.
I've always thought there was a lot of Perfect Tommy's attitude in the
character he plays, a sort of James Dean 50's kid who dies while hot
rodding and comes back as a guardian angel to a terminally uncool guy in
the 80's.

And for you John Whorfin devotees, the original 1937 "History is
Made at Night" is showing on American Movie Classics on May 7th.

Captain Video sent me the following from Rich Zellich and asked me to
pass it on in the hopes that some cat-loving BBI might have the time,
space, and desire to help out. As I'm still not as certain as I'd like to
be who else is living in the St Louis area, I'm forwarding it. If you're
local and would like to have some cats in your life, or if you just know
someone who would, please get in touch. As long as you're willing to help
out, I don't think Rich & Michelle would mind that much if you just
contact them directly, either, so I've left that addy on the original
below.

Subject: URGENT: Fan's cats need a home NOW

Everybody -

I just got off the 'phone with Wes Sale, and he has an urgent problem: He
has four cats, plus kittens and kittens-to-be, that need a good home
RIGHT NOW. He asked that I post this to the local SF community right
away as a "heads up" and he will post himself when he gets home, with
contact information (he apparently was not callable from where he was
calling me).

Two of the cats - a mother and daughter - have 3-week-old kittens. Wes
said if necessary he would pay someone $100 to take one of the cats, or
$250 to take both of them (complete with kittens, of course). The other
two cats are pregnant.

If someone is willing to take all four cats and the kittens as a package,
Wes will offer up to $500 as an incentive, and will kick in another $50 a
month for cat food for three months.

Please understand that the main point here is finding the cats a good
home, _not_ some "easy" money.

Cheers,
Rich

Tommy here. Barely. Listen up.

We never made it to TJ. Lloyds finally came through on the insurance to
rebuild the Jet Car Mk. 2, and after rebuilding the thing from scratch, we
decided to head down to TJ for some decompression.

Reno, we stopped for gas in the most messed up town I have ever been in. Get
this:

Vampires, demons, wacky British Knights-Templaresque Secret Societies, and a
18 year old cheerleader who fights the undead.

No, I am not drunk.

Tell the boss to get out here right away. We need mech engineers for
weapons, biochemists to figure out the vamps, and if Dr. Banzai could
explain just how some of these magic spells work, it would really restore my
faith in particle physics (the rules of which are being violatied daily by a
young student named Willow.) Forget the six guns pal- we need stakes and
crossbows. Although the Boss can bring his samuari swords.

Gimme a call on our encrypted sat phone, and tell the boss he has to be
facing west holding one of the six-guns I left in my bunkroom, or the
de-encyption spell we cast won't work.

Reno, this is hands down the weirdest stuff I've ever seen in the BBI. Well,
except for the whole driving through the mountain thing- but I could explain
that with math, at least.

Reno, just a quick note.

Things have quited down a bit, but a few questions. We don't have a BBI team
within fifty miles of this place. That's odd. That's really odd. Look into
the records, have we ever gotten any applications from this area?

Watcher's Council. The boss ever hear about them when he was at Oxford? Also
ask if he ever knew a student nicknamed "Ripper". He says he jammed with the
Boss once at a pub back in is ugrad days.

I think we wanna keep a low profile, but I checked out the nightclub. One of
the kids here, Oz. Smart, plays OK guitar. We can firm up his music skills,
but we need his CS skills. We should look into offering him a place at the
institute (internship of course.)

Other CS geunis here is Willow. I know the boss likes the interns to be well
rounded, so get this. She can't play an insturment (we'll fix that) but she
knows magic. That's certainly a feild of study the Institute hasn't looked
into, and I think we should. I want her doing some of these spells under
controlled conditions hooked up to biosensors while I cram every sensor and
recorder I can into the room. I *will* explain these spells in a way
consistent with the grand unifying theory. I've found whole knew avenues to
explore as far as physics goes...
