Greetings,

Another short one this time, and early because Ill be Incommunicado (a really
good disc by Marillion, BTW) for a day or two.

TABB will be on Comedy Central some more in Feb; the 8th at 2AM, and
Big Trouble in Little China will be on Fox Movies the 16th and 27th at 8:01pm (eastern).

Some encouraging (and, I hear, quite possibly accurate) news hit the
Aint It Cool News site again:

http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=2907

Tho if youve been hitting the official site (http://www.banzai-institute.com)
regularly (you have? right?) you know that already.

No story installment this time. That way you can take the time youd
have spent reading it and instead write the authors that have been so
kind to contribute and let them know what you thought and encourage
them to continue their tales. Having said that, I have to admit Ive not
done so myself, so for all to see, here it is:
Thanks, folks, and please do continue.

(Or you can write tales of your own to send in. Thatd be cool, too.)

Later...
ArcLight

My local Fox affiliate -- KASA Fox 2, serving greater New Mexico,
southern Colorado, and eastern Arizona -- has recently begun a gimmick
called "You Pick the Flick," wherein their Friday night movie is
selected by viewers' online votes. (Can anybody confirm/deny whether
other Fox affiliates are doing the same?) Write-in votes aren't
eligible for immediate consideration, but there is an attached question
asking for specific actors or movies to appear on future ballots.

It seems to me that any BBI within KASA's broadcast range should visit
the voting site and encourage the station to air The Adventures of
Buckaroo Banzai. TABB could always use the exposure and, given that
KASA is a Fox affiliate, a strong public interest might reflect
favorably on the network's eventual decision to commit to the BB TV
series. If you're reluctant to sound like a broken record by suggesting
TABB every week, there are other ways to show your general support, such
as voting for whatever candidate represents the sci-fi genre that week,
or suggesting other films of W. D. Richter (Big Trouble in Little China,
Needful Things, Invasion of the Body Snatchers [1978 version], Home for
the Holidays, etc.).

Crusades may be decided by generals, but they're fought on the front
lines. As we send our letters of support to Doug Herzog, let us not
overlook the more immediate and localized factors. It's probably too
early to overwhelm the managers and programming directors of our local
Fox stations with calls and letters regarding the series... but some
gently applied early interest can't hurt. It's important that we send
the message that Banzai fans are a large, active, unified community who
are eager to support anything and anyone strongly associated with
Buckaroo Banzai.

Cautionary note: Obviously, BBIs worldwide are capable of logging on to
KASA's home page regardless of geographic distance. While it might seem
like a good idea to demonstrate a loyalty to Buckaroo that shows no
bounds, I'm concerned that a barrage of votes from outside KASA's signal
range would stink of ballot-stuffing. Likewise, it would probably not
be wise for an individual to send a flood of Banzai votes from multiple
e-mail addresses. All too often, television execs are quick to
stereotype devout supporters as hardcore lunatics, especially when a
sci-fi franchise is involved. We must approach them with professional
conduct, lest they dismiss us altogether.

I had to tell somebody, so here it is - I just got back from the
Registry of Motor Vehicles with my new liscense plates:

	HB 88

!!

Massachusetts only allows up to 6 characters, so I couldn't get my first
choice (ROKIT 88)

This one is pretty awesome though :-)

BTW, here's another reminder - if you want to get your FREE "Buckaroo
Banzai Across the Eighth Dimesion" motion picture soundtrack, you can
send me a blank CD-R and I will copy it for you. This is the same one
that's been sighted on e-bay for ~$100.00

Contact mas@world.std.com for details.

How come there is no refrence to the Battletech Mercenary Team Banzai?

You need to go stomping around anybody dealing with old/used RPG stuff.
Your looking for the non-revised Technical Readout:3025 (go see the
Orion), the long out of print "House Davian" book, the Forth Secsession
War Books. Easier to find is the newly re-printed "Warrrior" trilagy by
Mike Stockpole.

Where the $%^@ is the spell-checker on this thing!

Hello There,

Just wanted to satisfy my curiousity on something. Is there any
correlation between the writers, producers
et al of this wonderful piece of cinema and Thomas Pynchon the author of
Crying of Lot 49. Seem to recall a
YoYo Dyne showing up in that novel, and by damn, Mr. Pynchon's prose and this
movie are very similar in
texture. Thanks for your time, and for a job well done on your page.
