Greetings,

Hope the season is progressing well for everyone.

Again reminding anyone whose ISP doesn't carry the
alt.fan.buckaroo-banzai newsgroup to write the proper
party and get it added. AOL still doesn't have it, I
know.

Take care,
ArcLight

I was browsing through a 1985 official BB fan club newsletter and
discovered a BB "Trivia Quiz" that claimed to use only the novel and
movie as its sources. According to this quiz, the plate on the jet car
was *not* "ROCKIT88" as previously reported on this list, but "ROKIT88"
(no C).

I know that this plate wasn't mentioned in the novel, which means that
it *must* have been in the movie. I think it was on the left hand side
of the frame when we see the jet-car from the back as it is moved into
position before the launch. I suspect that the portion of the frame
with the plate is chopped off for the pan-and-scan video, hence its
disappearance. We'll just have to wait for the wide-screen release to
see it again.

BTW, traffic in alt.fan.buckaroo-banzai has been on the increase - if
you get a chance, drop in, and if your ISP doesn't carry it yet, ask
them to do so!

- M

**** Just to confirm, ROKIT88 is indeed the JetCar's plate number. I have
a picture which shows the rear of the JetCar well enough to make it out.
Probably also visible on the workprint video, tho' I haven't checked.

How are the Blue Blaze Irregular membership numbers assigned? I assumed
this was a casual thing and selected #352 due to personal historical
significance, but now I am afraid I may have upset someone's system. Any
Advice?

**** As far as I know, giving yourself a number is perfectly acceptable. I can
easily add a field for them to my List address database to keep any
duplications from occuring. - ArcLight (BBI#621) ****

If any collector out there has a copy of the US pressbook (not press _kit_)
and would like to trade a photocopy for a photocopy of the German pressbook,
please contact me. Also looking to trade video; especially interested in the
HBO "making of". Thanks.

I just heard from a friend of mine that there were *two* BB novels.
This guy claims that in addition to the movie "novelization" by
MacRauch, that about a year after the movie came out a *second* BB novel
came out - this 2nd book takes place before the movie and contains some
hand drawn illustrations.

Has anyone ever heard anything about this before or have any idea what
he's talking about? I didn't believe him and he plans to get back to me
with the book in hand as soon as he can find it...

- M

**** New one on me (and on most others here, I'd wager).
I'd love to hear what he comes up with. - ArcLight ****

Hi.

I'm a fan from before the beginning! Yes, you heard that right. I read
the book before I saw the movie in 1984, and I read all the Starlog news
about the book and movie before they came out! I saw the film on
opening day and I would swear I was the only one who "got it".

I distinctly remember Ghostbusters coming out just before BB because in
the JetCar scene when BB peeled some slime off the hood of the JetCar,
someone in the audience yelled out: "He's been slimed!!"

I went home after the film was over and convinced my mom to see it with
me that night. She loved it just as much as I did.

To this day, I will not allow anyone near my copy of BB on tape, and I'm
patiently awaiting the DVD version (hopefully Letterboxed).

cheers.
Marianne, tamer of Lectroids and Blue Blaze Irregular Extraordinaire.

Hello,
My fellow BBIrregulars, My name is spenser if you have not guessed
yet. I have had the newletter for a little while now but this is my first
time writing in.
I want to say that I LOVE The movie of course. i am a big movie buff anyways
and I have a lot of the smaller and cult films to my heart and BB is one of
my favs. It has been since I first saw it. The newsletter is great and I am
so happy I found people who love the movie as well. I mean how can you not
love a movie that has the line " Oh the duece you say " by our Boss man. I
also heard about the tv pilot and possible movie and I am sooooooo thrilled.
After all this time I am so happy to hear this !!!!!! I praying that possibly
peter weller will come back, since he has not done loads of work lately I
think it would be wonderful to see him back as Banzai. And at least some of
the others from the film. I would even be happy with just a tv movie but the
possiblity of him in a series it limitless and fasinating. But I have been
talking to much so I will finish with thank you for creating this newsletter
and if anyone ever wants to talk about BB I would be more than glad to, you
can e-mail me anytime! See you around my fellow BBIrregulars. And never
forget"No matter where you go, there you are " -Buckaroo Banzai
Bye for now,
                   Spenser

Howdy all just thought I'd share my success in finding a near mint copy of
the movie poster, it only has a small hole in the corner fold... they folded
posters back then instead of rolling. The people at Hollywood Renaissance in
Toronto, Ontario ( Canada phone: (416) 967 4598 ) were able to find it for
me in short order.
It took 2 weeks, I had been haphazardly searching myself for 8 years on
and off but they found it :). I paid $50 Canadian for it (and picked up a
Young Einstein poster for $15 :) This is the same picture as the video
cassette box cover. They don't have any more copies but they said they would
give me a shout if they found anything else, I'll pass it on if I get word.

I'm amassing quite the collection, Book, Comics, VHS Tape and now the
poster. All I need is the @#$@#$* CD, which keeps eluding my grasp... must
be an evil plot.
I even had a few of the songs in mp3 format before my third hard drive
crash. Brutally expensive to recover hard drives ... I don't know what I did
but it was foobar'd really well. (I could have taken a semester at College
for the recovery cost of a 1 gig drive... jeez!). Anyway, off topic :)

Just a quick comment on the TV show, I *really* hope this comes through and
that creative control is retained by the correct people... I can see some
really good things happing if the show is done correctly. I'll spare the
list any of my more pessimistic thoughts... but just think "Young Hercules".

Lastly I'll spend a second thanking ArcLight for running this list, I've
looked forward to every issue.
