Greetings,

...sigh...Missed last weekend. Very sorry.

Have the Zip file of past issues on the site now. It *should* work now.
Apologies to anyone who tried to get it before and had it foul up on them.

Till next time...

Greetings, ArcLight and fellow BBIs. I am mildly distressed after
a visit to a Rare CD/Movie store where I was looking for a VHS copy of
Banzai. I usually check these places for a copy, just in case, and when I
asked about the movie the manager laughed and said that a lot of people had
been looking for one. He told me that all rights to the movie were held by a
man who wanted it to disappear. From what I gathered, it is a similar
situation to when Harlan Ellison claimed that Gene Roddenberry "butchered"
his Star Trek episode, "City on the Edge of Forever". This man wants to end
TABB's circulation. The manager told me he had just sold a copy of TABB for
$200. Could this be the end of Banzai? Copies are rare already, so I can only
hope this is a vicious rumour. Can anyone disprove it for me? I hope so.

I presently own a copy of TABB on Beta, which is a prized possesion indeed.
However, I can't watch it because every time I do the tape seems to degrade.
I made a copy onto VHS from it, but that is also pretty scratchy. Does anyone
know where I can find a VHS copy for myself?

Much appreciated,
Janez

Hi -- ArcLight asked about fanzines. The first one (unless you count the
newsletters) was The Cavalier, which, if memory serves, was written mainly
by the Directors of the BBI and came out in summer or fall 1985. The next
one came out of San Jose, edited by BBI Sharkey with help (or
interference, depending on your point of view <g>) from BBI Shadow, and
ran to two or three issues (that I knew about). One thing that was cool
about that one was that Rick Richter saw it and told Sharkey he liked it.
The next one came from The Party Company in Seattle, and they too produced
at least one sequel -- it was the kind of zine where they wrote their own
characters into the stories. There were also loose stories floating around
by BBI's Hollywood, Canary, Neon Highlander, and your humble servant,
which haven't ever been collected between covers, though some of them
circulated at various times to the BBI directors, Rick Richter, David
someone from the production staff, Terry Erdman, and a couple of the
actors. Those amount to maybe thirty stories. That gets you to about 1987.

Someone asked in the previous issue about the tune in the rough
cut. It's the same tune, "Rocket 88," a 1950's instrumental in honor of
the immortal muscle car, as was the Jetcar's vanity plate. You hear the
actors playing their own music in the rough cut. Pretty not-so-good <g>.
It was dubbed. Clyde von Drake would know details.

**** Theres now a fairly extensive fanzine list on the FAQ, courtesy
of Figment. If anyone has any additions or corrections, be sure to let
him know. And, as always, if anyone has any fanfic theyd like serialized
here or posted on a web sight, drop the List a line and Im sure we can
work something out. - ArcLight ****

Hi ArcLight!
This is Blue Blaze irregular #82263...Michael Walker. Been on the
mailing list from day one and appreciate your doiong this mailing list. In
cleaning up my files here I noticed a disturbing item. While attempting to
copy WW#52 onto my backup floppy, noticed it actually didnt back up
anything. Looked into my other files and sure enough, Microsoft Word doesnt
tell you when your disk is full-it keeps simulating wriitng to disk (and it
writes 0 characters to disk!). So, i checked my archives and this happened
back with issue WW#40.
So, a word of wisdom to you fellow Blue Blaze Irregulars, check your
stuff out if you're saving with Microsoft Word.
And now, as you suspected, would you please, please, pretty please
with an an oscillation overthruster on top, send me issues WW#40-WW#51?
Many thanks and apologies for the inconvenience.

         Michael

**** Thanks for the words of warning, and sorry its taken me so long
to get the missing issue out to you. - ArcLight ****

**** The comic shows up on Ebay pretty often. Also, theres a web site
at http://www.comics2000.com that will forward a wantlist to a couple
dozen comic book stores. I managed to get some Bionic Woman comics
for reasonable prices that way. - ArcLight ****

  Greetings BBIs,

I response to Scott Tates statement on Time travel. I am also exploring such
possibilties. And with a little luck the film may be made, soon I hope.
Addressing the idea, not Scotts but the one he questioned, about time travel
ripping you to shreds.
That may be, however, should that be the case, a probe might be subtituted in
place of an actual person, to travel forward or back. You may not be able to
alter anything, but you could observe. This may also prevent anything
potentually disruptive, such as the Grandfather Paradox. Food for
thought.

On the topic of buried references to BB...

Christopher Loyd's use of "Futureboy" and "Monkeyboy" in BTTF and BB,
respectively, is also, perhaps, more than random coincidence...

Rather more overtly, the Star Trek Technical manual, in the Author's
Introduction, has a "special thanks" section for people who served as
technical resources. The very last expert is John O'Connor of YPS -- clearly
a YoYodyne Propulsion Systems reference.

And, finally, on the assumption that a BTTF reference is a "cloaked"
reference
to BB, the very first Barclay episode of ST:TNG has Barclay working on an
antigrav sled (or something) and deciding that the problem must be with the
Flux Capacitor.

Another place to look is issues of The Uncanny X-Men. Well, okay, mid-80's
issues of the X-Men. During the period when John Romita Jr. was handling art
several Morlocks were shown wearing hats with the BB-in-a-circle logo on
them...

So I was working at the San Diego Comic-Con and a fellow staff member
told me he had actually met, and seen in action the man The Man is based
on. This being Jim Dilletosso who fronted the musical group The Boxtops,
which was a front for UFO research, and delivered secret messages for
heads of state, except that their cover was blown and they disbanded,
freeing member W.D. Richter for a career in film, and Dilletosso for an
official post directing the search for extra-terrestial life.
