Greetings,

Wow. 40th ish, eh? That's only about 39 issues longer than I figured this
thing would last. Coolness.

Assuming I've made space, there should be a small bit about Richter on
the site now. Hopefully, I'll be able to add a bit to it once I get all my
old mags, newsletter, etc. out of storage.

No sign of TABB on TV according to "Satellite Orbit" mag, but another
little gem by the name of "Big Trouble in Little China" is coming on TNT
on the 11th at 8pm and the 21st at 1pm (times EST).

The S-F Channel has been rerunning Clancy's "Earth 2" series. And they're
starting "She-Wolf of London" back up in March. Okay, so there's no direct
BB connection there I can think of off hand. Sue me. I just really like the
show and am even thinking about trying to revive it's mailing list, because
I'm a glutton for punishment. <g>

Clancy's movie "Shoot To Kill" is also on this month. USA on the 28th
at 8pm and the 29th at 6pm (times still EST).

No doubt some other stuff from the gang is on, also. Those are just the ones
that caught my eye.

And big shout out to 20 new folks that came on since last ish.
Make sure you check the websites listed up top for all sorts of info and
feel free to jump in anytime with thoughts or suggestions. I've said it
before, but this is *your* List, and while I know I can't please everybody,
I'd like to cover as many folks as possible.

On with the show...

Just heard rumors from pals in California (who are drug/alcohol free,
hey-it's possible!) that there are plans to put BB on DVD and also that there
is another BB film possible...Well, if man can go to the moon, why not
another BB movie? And-there are BB paperbacks and videos at your local flea
market and video store if you look around...take a weekend road trip with
friends to see what you can find!

Peter Weller will be appearing in a celebrity ski competition at Mt. Alyeska
(located just outside Anchorage, AK) Saturday February 14th. There will
also be a benefit hosted that same night where the celebs will "mix and
mingle" with the crowd.

This event will be broadcast on ESPN and a few other cable networks. I will
be in attendance......as I'm sure will all other dedicated BBI's in Alaska.
:-)

a Strike Team alert on this in time for the broadcast. - ArcLight <<

I am searching for an old pen pal from the early days of the original
Fox newsletter. She first contacted me through Starlog Magazine. Her name is
Sue Weinlein, and she'll know me as Johnny Fedora. Sue, if you're out there,
drop me a line!

Hi all! I'm pleased to say that the first run of
our Buckaroo Banzai CD soundtrack was so popular
that we've decided to manufacture a second batch
for anyone who missed out the first time. This
is the complete motion picture soundtrack from
the film including dialogue from the movie as
well as unreleased cues taken directly from the
original master recording reels. Each disc is
recorded on a gold scratch-resistant CD and comes
complete with a full color insert and track listing.

Also available: The Buckaroo Banzai director's
workprint! This is the widescreen edition containing
cut scenes of Sandra and Masado's first jetcar fiasco
as well as references to Hanoi Xan (finally, we now
know it's pronounced "Shan"!!!) The workprint was
compiled before post-production, so don't expect
pristine print quality or complete special effects,
just some REALLY weird extra scenes!!! This NTSC VHS
tape includes a full color plastic case.

We still have copies of the original Buckaroo
Banzai screenplay but they are going fast!
It's interesting to see the "Lectroids" referred
to as "Aractoids". Also, look for some other
minor differences as well as the cut scenes
from the Director's workprint spelled out in
detail.

AND... if there's anyone who STILL doesn't have
a copy of the film in its original format, we
still have high quality copies from the first
Vestron VHS tape. These are recorded on high grade
Sony tapes with perfect picture quality gauranteed.
Also included is a plastic video case with full
color wraparound cover!

For further information about Banzai items,
or if you just want to make friends, drop a
line to: washu@teleport.com

Thanks and happy hunting!!! ^_^

Howdy. I want to subscribe to your Buckaroo Banzai news thingy:)

My name is Jonathan Auxier but My friends call me Plunger Lad (don't
ask.. it's a long story) anyway I got into BB about 6 years ago when i
was just 10 and i still love him to this day. Aside from Star Wars and
Strange Brew, Buckaroo Banzai is the most watchable movie in history. I
would love to get any info on Buckaroo, I read that sequel script, it
was great, like it's predecessor complex but pulled off gracefully.
Write me at jonoroonie@hotmail.com

P.S. are any of you irregulars Tick fans???

mentioned in the same sentence? - ArcLight <<

not much news on the Viper Front except maybe a new strike team (We
need an European team and a Snake to name it after).... who hasn't
been to ERnie's site? ok go over there visit a spell. Great stuff Ern
GREAT STUFF! ok Mara you know her? Well she talked me into helping
her with her Club Skywalker pages and such Check it out and maybe
join up. and also think about hooking up with Club Jade which is
sorta where the IDEA for Club Skywalker is from..
Ok yeah enuff with the pitch work.. as I did a few months ago I
reported on what "The Names" were doing for this year. And this sorta
has to do with that Whilest I was doing something or another I met
this gent (No I don't remember his name except he's an older gent and
had some experience in running theaters in the Philly area) who I
tried to get some more info on BB out of but failed. BUT I did hear
that some big convention that Studios have with theater chains and
such Sony or what ever that's making "Godzilla" with Develin and
Emmerich (So Sue me I know my spelling isn't good and spell checker
won't catch it. Where was I?) only took guys and gals who worked on
Godzilla to this thing. and also it was the guy told me Big G is
supposed to resemble a T-Rex in movement on land we'll have to see
BUT I do know that THIS MOVIE will be BIG along with a few other
movies including the fourth installment of the Lethal Weapon Movies.
I've also been listening for anything dealing with a certain MR.
Cline nothing yet (Cross all BODY parts that be crossed and HOLD
except your eyes) whilest doing that I've heard that the Lethal
Weapon Boys (Donnor and Silver) and Bryan Singer are working on an
X-Men movie with a tentative release date of sometime later this
year(They hope on July 2) and not one cast member listed BUT IMHO IF
it's made and Sabertooth is in it (and I bet List-Master Arc will
love this) Clancy B. should play that nutball (Again cross various
body parts). I'll recheck and maybe Honored List Master would care to
re-check what "The Names" are up to besides staying out of jail.
(Seems to be a habit out there)
well that's all folks...
Laters
Fanatic
PS DID ANYBODY LIKE TITANIC??? DID ANY GUY on this list go see it by
themselves? LET ME KNOW K?? Laters!!!

I discovered Buckaroo about 1984. I try to remember the first time, but
memory fails. It's as if I always knew.... Anyway, very few people shared
or understood my fixation with this film. I lived in Pasadena, CA for six
years in the mid to late 80's, and there I delighted in discovering many of
the locations that appear in the film, as well as Planet Ten, the lovely
Pasadena store dedicated to all right-thinking individuals, like us! I
have an original press kit that I acquired from them -- a treasure.

The fact that Comedy Central is currently running BB inspired me to search,
and that has brought me to you. I am THRILLED and delighted to find others
with an affliction similar to mine. Monkey boys in the compound!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Ye Gods.... the sun was shining on me the other day..... I have
been chasing my own copy of BB for sometime now with little
success... last week I walked into a local video store... they were
clearing out some of their old stock... on the table lay a copy of
BB on VHS... the price ... $4 ....containing my excitement I
casually picked it up and wandered over to the counter to pay....
I have to wait to the rest of the house has gone to bed to play it...
they don't seem to understand it...on any level..... its a
sign.... my life is cruising.... the world can end now.

little obscure bits of information from various sources.
Most of these are true... I forget which one's aren't...

The number 88 is a recurring number in "Buckaroo Banzai." HB 88 are the call letters (and license plate) of the jet car... The Hong Kong Cavaliers open their set at Artie's Artery with a rendition of the song "Rocket 88." And apparently, in the film "Back to the Future," the fact that Doc Brown's Delorian has to go 88 miles per hour to travel in time is a direct reference to "Banzai." Ask Neil Canton... who was a producer on both films.

Earl Mac Rauch, who wrote the film and its novelization, also wrote "New York, New York."

Robert Ito originally auditioned for the role of Professor Hikita in his own old age makeup to show that he could indeed effectively portray the character.

While the boys are trying to decipher the code to break into Yoyodyne's computer system, the last chord New Jersey plays on the piano is a G chord, which is what motivates Rawhide to suddenly suggest a G cipher.

The video for Sting's "Fortress Round Your Heart" video was filmed on the same location as the Hong Kong Cavalier's concert at Artie's Artery.
