Greetings,

Well...Lectroids, Bravos, Death Dwarves...not sure
who to blame it on but it seems like every BB related
project I work on has been biting the dust lately.
Most recently (and annoyingly) my address book on
AOL has completely disappeared, tho' the file seems
to be right where it belongs. Very thankful that I'm
anal enough to have a sepearate database file with
them all on it. That means that this is not only
'the lastest issue' but another test run. You may get
it once or twice or not at all.
No need to let me know if it gets through.
I'll assume any that don't bounce back to me made it.

On another order of business, what's up with the
WebRing? The maintainer had to let it go awhile back
and put out a call for a replacement. Did anyone
take up the reins? And how can I add someone now?

Since no new fanfic has come down the pipe (HINT HINT)
I've tossed in a snippet of something else I'm
working on. It's strictly first-draft mode, but anyone
who wants the whole thing is welcome to it as long
as they promise to offer constructive advice.
What I'm posting here is the only BB related bit, however.
(Heh heh...if having to read *my* stuff doesn't get 'em to
send in fanfic, nothing will! Wait...is this thing still on?)

In response to some previous List discussion, there's a pic
of Earl Mac Rauch on the ever-changing opening page of
the World Watch OnLine site now.

Howdy to the new folks and anyone who's celebrating
any holidays this time of year, hope y'all have
great ones.

Later...
ArcLight

For those watching closely on a good tape or Videodisc:

Take a good look at Sepulveda Dam behind them in the final credits.

You can see where they removed the tape and reapplied it (if I remember,
someone had left out a letter) to spell Buckaroo Banzai.

Recently, Craig Berube of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey
League was suspended one game by the league for using a "racial epithet"
during a game against opposing player Peter Worrell of the Florida
Panthers. ESPN reported that Berube, a white Canadian, called Worrell, an
African-Canadian, a "monkey", but another report says the term was
actually "monkeyboy". In his own defense, Berube said that he used the
term on everyone, without regard to their color.

So it's clear, then; the Lectroids are still on earth, and they're playing
hockey! I wonder if Berube was sent to the 8th Dimension instead of the
penalty box?

Everyone,

The Red Lectriods are given me a hard time out here, but I think I
can handle it. Me and the Blue Blazes are given the nasties a run for
thier money. But I need some information. If anyone could help by giveing
me all the Web sites that have to do with our leader Buckaroo, I'd be
almost grateful. Gotta go, Scooter and his dad just pulled up in the
chopper. L8R.

Subj: Rafterman's reappearance, and merchandising notes

From:	jetlightfoot@juno.com (Becky M Nelson)

Greetings and Salutations!

I wish I could say that I've properly seen Rafterman's site, but ISP
problems abound at the moment. For anyone with a text-only browser,
though, don't let the lack of immediate vision put you off. There's
*lots* of neat stuff anyway.

Some of that neat stuff, however, requires me to comment on
merchandising. Counting the pages I linked to from Rafterman's, I know of
at least 6 people who are, to say the least, just a little upset with
Starland. Wherefore this note.

Patches, and possibly other things, if there's enough requests, are also
available through a business called The Wizards Wagon, in St. Charles, MO
(that's across the Missouri River from St.Louis, if you're wondering).
You can e-mail them at the following addy for prices and details, though
at present they are out of stock on the Team Banzai back patch:

wizwagon@fastrans.net

So far as I can tell, they're good people to do business with; lords know
they've been around in the STL metro as long as I've lived here, which is
10 years plus.

>> Ed. note: When I emailed them, all they had were a few patches
and apologized for not having pics of them. - ArcLight <<

Shirts can also be obtained from various places. I believe at least one
of them is listed in Relayer's FAQ, but the last time I checked, this one
wasn't there:

Planet X
PO Box 236073
Columbus, OH 43223
(614)272-8984

I ran into these folks at a local convention back in October, but mislaid
my notes. Prices on the shirts were running around $12 then, as I recall,
but check for stock and pricing; I came down with something just after
the con and my memory could be a little shaky.

While this is hardly hot of the World Watch line, I kinda thought you'd
want to be notified.

Hey I'm really new hear so I was wondering; do we have numbers? I have
this fantasy of meeting Peter Weller on a bus and snapping to attention
saying Blue Blaze Irregular #... at your service. I don't know if any of
you care but I would just like to point out the trauma I suffered
traveling all the way to Santa Monica (and having my bus hit by car)
because someone swore to me this store had BB action figures, only to have
the salesman tell me not only was there no such thing (it seemed to good
to be true) but also how pitifully few BB promotional materials were
released. When I dragged my weary self home, my friend continued to insist
he had seen them in a bargain bin, and that they had been made for a
BB t.v. show.

>> Ed. Note: Well? Howzabout it, folks? I've got everyone's email
addy in a database already, so adding a field for numbers (and
one for BBI names) to make sure there are no duplicates would
be easy as pie. Either email me the info or just use it in
yer sig if you want. - ArcLight <<

Although many years have passed since the great docudrama, the World Crime
League still must be guarded against --- I would not be surprized to hear
that they were responsible for the whole messy dimensional dilema.

The other day I was watching television and in the background there was a
watermelon......coincidence? I think not!!!

Has anyone else noticed the almost constant stream of reference to the
Docudrama in TV and film?
Where can one currently find Buckaroo memorabilia? Any good sources out
there? Sean N. If you are still out there in Nelson or beyond, I finally
did get a second copy of the novel and have been carrying it around to give
to you for about 10 years...... Merry Christmas!

fanfic snippet

As I said above, this is a piece of a pet project I'm
toying with. This is the only remotely BB related
section, which is probably why the file hasn't been
corrupted yet.

To set the scene:
October, 1938

Prof. Indiana Jones is doing a quick bit of research
in the skyscraper headquarters of Doc Savage,
where he meets the bronze man and another scientist.

***

A few hours later, his jacket hanging on the back of his chair
and his tie loosened, he was still taking notes on the skulls
and their legend, when the door to the lab opened.

From inside the lab came a giant and a dwarf.

At least, that was Indy's first impression. As he stood and was
greeted by the giant, he realized the dwarf was actually an Asian
not too much shorter than himself, with medium length black hair
and glasses.

The giant, though, was still a giant. But so perfectly proportioned
that only by standing next to something or someone could his great
size be accurately judged.

"Doctor Jones, a pleasure," the great man said.
His voice was deep, powerful, perfectly controlled. His skin was
deeply bronzed, like his cousin Pat's, his close-cropped hair
darker. The striking coloration was set off even more-so by the
white labcoat he wore. His eyes held Indy speechless for a moment.
Tiny bronze whirlpools flecked with gold, they seemed to see into
Indy's very core. No amount of popular magazine coverage, of which
there'd been plenty despite the bronze man's disdain of publicity,
could prepare one for actually meeting him.

Doctor Clark Savage, Junior, extended a hand to Indy.

"The pleasure's all mine, Doctor Savage," Indy managed.
"I've read a great deal about you."

"As I have about you," Doc Savage said. Though there was no change
in his inflection or expression, Indy could swear he picked up
a faint tinge of humor with the comment.

"Please," he continued after a brief pause. "Most call me Doc."

"I'd like you to meet a colleague," Doc gestured to the Asian.
"This is Doctor Toichi Hikita. He's doing some rather unique
experiments at MIT with particle accelerators and quantum
field theory."

"Ah," Indy said, having no idea what that meant, "Nice to meet you."

Hikita performed a short bow before offering a handshake, which
caused Indy to try and shake hands and bow at the same time,
doing neither with particular grace.

"Likewise, Doctor Jones," Hikita said in accented English.
"Perhaps we can get together sometime."

"Sure," the archeologist agreed. "And call me Indy," he said to
both of them.

"I'll be back momentarily," Doc Savage told Indy, then continued
to escort the Asian professor out.

"I'd be very interested in hearing how your experiments with
Doctor Lizardo proceed. Do keep me informed," Doc was saying
to Hikita as they exited the library and went on through the
reception area.

Before he could come back into the library, Doc Savage stopped
to answer the phone in the outer office as it began ringing.

His deep, authoritative voice carried to Indy, who was putting
his things away in preparation to leave. Distracted by his own
actions, Indy only heard part of Doc's side of the conversation.

"...the X-3 has been stolen?" Doc was saying. "No, that's fine.
You continue on. I'll have Monk and Ham try and pick up the trail."

Peter Weller has said that he has, in his possession, the production audio
recording tape of the "Since I Don't Have You" portion of the Artie's Artery
scene. His vocal in the song, as he said himself, was "not in good voice" at
the time of filming. During post production, Peter re-recorded what was
heard in the final film.

"Banzai" Costume designer Aggie Guerrard Rodgers also worked on "American
Graffiti," "Return of the Jedi," "Beetlejuice," and many others. Look for
Aggie's placement of a costume cameo appearance in "Pee Wee's Big Adventure"
of New Jersey's dime store cowboy outfit.

During post-production sound editing on "RoboCop" and "RoboCop 2," yours
truly (that's ME) tried desperately to sneak in the famous Overthruster Beep
("Diddle-DOO! "Diddle-DOO!") sound effect into Robo's telemetry, as a subtle
nod to Peter Weller's earlier work. But, alas... it was dropped before the
final mix on both occasions.
