Greetings,

Another short (tho' potentially controversial) issue.

The BBCon is still going on, especially for you Left
Coasters. Drop by and say "Hi" to folks. Plus tonight
is a regular chat night, anyway (6pm west/9pm east
or in about 10 minutes from me mailing this).

In keeping with the brevity of this, issue...

Later...

I especially wish to invite you all to visit the Art Show. We've been
very busy adding images for you to view. There are sections for
autographs of the actors, costumes, fan artists, fanzines, film props,
production art & professional artists.

So, even when there might not be Programming topics you'd be interested
in, there are fun things to look at in the Art Show. Navigational tool
at the bottom of all pages for easy cruising. :)

Subj: the novel is available ... sort of... ONE TIME OFFER!
Date:	8/7/00 6:28:24 PM Eastern Daylight Time

Hi, I'm not on the Buckaroo Banzai mailing list, although I love the movie,
and I have been a fan of it a long time, and I used to collect all the stuff
I could find of it. I know a couple of people on the mailing list also.
I've been talking to one of my friends, who is on the mailing list, about
the novel, and how hard it is to get. I have a photocopy of the book, a
friend of mine got tired of lending his out, and it was almost destroyed
anyway from so many people borrowing it, so he took it to a copy place and
copied it page for page, then recopied it onto double sided sheets so it
wouldn't be so many pages (benefits of living in a small town, nobody even
looked twice at him for doing this)
The copy is just as readable as the book. So here's the deal=
this is a one time offer, I really don't want to do this but I'm letting two
friends talk me into it, and there are conditions involved. I'm running an
Ebay auction for one week, the link for it is:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=408187876

This is so everybody has an assurance they will get what they pay for, and I
have an assurance I'm not wasting my time, and so I can limit the time frame
of this offer and do everyting at once. So the first condition is, you have
to be on ebay, sorry if this is a problem for anybody. The second condition
is, I'm staying out of it, I have two people who have agreed to do it all,
one person for the ebay id and another will collect the payments, cash them
and give them to me. If anybody gets mad about this, it wasn't my idea, I
don't want to hear it, so my name, address, email, everything is being kept
out of it.
For ten dollars, you get a photocopy of the novel, cover to cover,
guaranteed to be perfectly readable. I'm not expecting to make any money,
the cost is to cover copying (pretty expensive for a whole book) and the
ebay charges and the postage (which is included in the ten dollars). I put
in the auction that there are 20 copies available, this should be enough
that there is no need to compete, even if all 20 copies go, there will be
enough people on the list to get them from after this. I won't make the
copies until the auction ends, so I don't care if one person gets it and
distributes it, or whatever. The auction title is not anything likely to
attract anyone, so this is really just for people on the Buckaroo Banzai
mailing list.
If anybody complains or suggests any trouble or tries to get the auction
cancelled that will be the end of it. I don't know if anybody is really
interested in this, but if they are, I would not want them to have to spend
forever looking for the book, or pay a lot of money for it, I know how
frustrating that is, by the way if anybody has older books, or videos, by
the writer Harry Crews, I am in the same situation with that writer that you
are with Buckaroo Banzai, let me know if you can help, anyway, if anybody
wants to read this that badly, here is a way to get something readable. Also
it said something about scanning, you might be able to scan the photocopied
pages easier, since they are flat. If you have any questions you can email
here or the address the auction is on and it will get forwarded.
And let me reiterate, I am the one making the copies, none of the other
people helping knows exactly what this is about so they are not responsible
for anything infringing or anything.
It's really good to know people are still interested in Buckaroo Banzai!

**** This is the contraversial part, in case you were wondering.
I haven't decided for myself which is worse; paying high prices for
the real thing or this photocopy deal. (tho' law-wise, this is definately
the loser, I know that) If there had been more stuff to post in this ish,
I probably would've left it out all together.
Anyway, if you have any major heartburn about
me posting this, please let me know but be nice about it because I'll
probably post it here, too. - ArcLight ****

Greetings all,

Another quick one for you.

BBcon has been fun, a great experiment for sure. BBI Rally and have been
a little disappointed in the turnout, but overall things have almost met
our realistic expectation. The Art Show is fantastic and I must
compliment Rally on the fine web work she's done. There are sections
with autographs of the actors, costumes, fan artists, fanzines, film
props, production art & professional artists. All will be up permanently
after this weekend for viewing.
One feature in the programming that seemed to be the most enjoyable was
the Round Robin Banzai storytelling. With a little editing and spell
checking these spontaneous group stories will be available at the BBcon
site in the near future. I'm looking forward to using this fun idea at
future GABBs. I hope now that many more BB fans have had a taste of the
Banzai chats they will be more inclined to drop in on the twice weekly
evening gatherings.

Remember the GABBs (Gathering All Blue Blazes) are every Wednesday &
Sunday evening, 6 PM PDT/ 9 PM EDT and last for about 2 hours.

Main page for the BBcon is: http://www.team-banzai.net/bbcon/
navigate the entire site from there including the Art Show! I will
remain up.

Random Novel Quote:
From:
Mr. Shapiro Lichtman, Artist's Manager, Beverly Hills, CA

Mr. Reno Nevada
Banzai Institute

Dear Reno:
Please be informed that our client Orson Welles denies categorically any
connection with the outer space creatures mentioned in your book. At no
time was he contacted by said aliens, although he does not deny the
possibility that he was hypnotized and made to do things he was not
aware of. Also, Orson would very much like to see any proof that you may
have to the contrary.

Warmest, Shapiro Lichtman
