Greetings,

Hope all is well with everyone.

Also hope if anyone is having *any* trouble with
this thing, they let me know. Okay, so the folks
whose trouble is that they're not getting it can't
read this, but if you don't get one for a weekend
or two, tell me. Can't solve a problem I don't know
about. (and if your problem is the content, let me
know that too, or better yet, send me something to
include!)

'TABB' will be on the S-F Channel in a little bit.
June 2nd I think, but don't quote me. I'll let
you know for sure when it gets about that time.

Still undecided about switching this over to
an eGroups thing. No thoughts?

Tweaked the 'Stuff' page some. Split it into
sections for legit, promotional and bootleg
type stuff.

Later...

As far as the hoopla on BBI items on the net for sale...
BB's philosophy would be...if the treasure you seek has value to you, then
the price you pay is what you are willing to give.

Finally getting the VA to recognize that I am entitled to vocrehab program.
Before when I wanted it, they wouldn't give me computers (Microsoft
engineering) as an option. Now it is the only choice...go figure...does
anyone out there know if getting certified as a MS tech type is worth it?
Thanks

Like Voodoo Klohn, I believe in doing things for people without making any
profit. For those in the UK, or others who can take VHS PAL videos
(Australia, Europe), I have the British version of BB on pre-recorded video,
and don't mind doing copies. Any cost would be for a video tape (or supply
your own), and return postage.
Anyone interested should contact me off-list.

At The Auctions
with BBIs Dragon & Crazy Horse

Well it's been a rather slow week at the auctions. There are some items
that are back again, like the BB long-sleeved Jersey, starting bid at
$24.99, again.

**** Confirmed last week as a legit item. - ArcLight ****

Many many patches for (re-)sale and 'The Watch'. I found
several souls bidding on two videos of TABB spelled incorrectly
(B-o-n-z-a-i) and politely contacted them about the spelling issue and
to look at the many videos up for auction with the correct spelling.
Also checked out Amazon.com auctions for BB items.

Also did a check of the last 30 or so TABB vhs auctions and came up with
an average selling price. The high bids range from as low as $9 to as
high as $36 and the average is at $18, the same as last time I did an
average a few weeks ago.

Now lets move on the a few interesting items.

Movie Poster

Crazy Horse: Here's an item for the BB fan with $150 burning a hole in
their
pocket!! I must admit that I don't know much about the BB posters, but
this would look cool on the wall. However, after explaining to the wife
about spending $150 for a poster, I could be the one hanging on the
wall!!!
One interesting thing about this item is that the seller states that it
has never been "rolled." But the lucky bidder gets it sent in a tube!!
That's like buying a t-shirt that has never been worn and having the
mail man wearing it to deliver it to you!

Dragon: This is 'The' poster from the film. Also know as a 'onesheet'.
My first thought was, "Oh, nice, one of those..." then an e-v-i-l
thought crept into my mind and my second thought was, "Gee, how many of
these poster could there be out there in perfect (nearmint) condition...
how could these be reproduced by someone just like a lot of BB
collectable items... I wonder...". The description makes it clear that
this is 'the real thing' with: AUTHENTIC 40X60 1984 NM- NEVER USED,
NEVER FOLDED, NEVER ROLLED. NM", look, twice in a short sentence the
seller says 'NM' (nearmint) just in case we missed it the first time.
Why?
Now, as for that starting bid of $150, HAA! Didn't we do a review on a
onesheet just a month or so ago and unless I've already recycled those
brain cells, it sold for just over $30. The video/laserdisc 24X36 inch
poster just sold for a whopping $7.51 and it's almost the same image.
Granted, I wouldn't expect the print quality to be the same, but 20
times the price, no!
To a real fanatical BB fan this $150+ poster is probably worth the
investment, it will be enjoyed for many more years.
I still wonder about the possibility of bootlegging these. At those
prices ($150) it would be profitable. Like the CD and...

Team Banzai T-shirt, very worn

Dragon: Okay I'm going through my rag box now to see if I can make some
money at ebay. I swear... I would have turned a BB T-shirt like this one
into a rag for washing the Jet Car years ago (and probably did). The
description looks accurate from the look at the picture; "Buckaroo
Banzai Team Banzai tee shirt... Heavy wear, shirt and print have fading,
from 1984, collar & bottom hem have been cut off. Size XL." and bidding
starts at $1.99. Anyone want a Banzai rag to wash their car with? :)
This looks like one of Starland's old shirts.

Crazy Horse: This is one of the most honest sellers that I have seen!!
He describes
the item just as he shows it. Beat up, faded, cut, and worn. A lot of
ebay sellers would call this item "near mint!"

Dragon: LOL

-----

BB T-shirt (a clone?)

Dragon: It looks like the 'iron-on' T-shirt of the video box is back
again. I don't know if this is the same seller, again, but the whole
thing gives me deja vu. Starting bid needs to be $8 and I do remember
that the last one sold for over $20 and we got feedback from the top
bidder.

Crazy Horse: Yes, this t-shirt looks just like the last one, only this
one is
yellow. This is what makes me think that it is an iron-on transfer. If
you look at the picture, you can see that the picture of the movie cover
has a yellow tint. This is because an iron-on will show the color of the
shirt beneath it. If you put a transfer on a blue shirt, it will have a
blue tint.
I'd say there is a 99.9% chance that this is a home made shirt that
someone is selling.

This is the reply and response to the seller of the Yellow Tabb
Poster/Video Cover t-shirt. His name has been edited to protect the
guilty.

Greetings!!!
The t-shirt looks interesting. Is there anything on the back? I've
never seen one quite like this. How old is it? Is it hard to find?

Shawn,
I got it from a private distributor who specializes in movie
T-shirts...It is brand new...There is nothing on the back, and the
design does not cover the entire front of the shirt, much like most
T-shirts that are in the retro style as of late.
Thanks!

Crazy Horse: Unless you have an industrial size printer, the t-shirt
transfers are
not big enough to cover the entire front of the shirt. And, like I said,
it also shows the color of the material it was ironed to. "If it walks
like a duck....")

Watch Deja vu

Dragon: The John Whorfin Watch is back again, for a $24.99 starting bid.
This item just keeps coming back, guess the seller figures it doesn't
cost them anything to list the item (over and over) and someday it might
sell. It's a cool watch, I'll give then that, but a broken band?

Crazy Horse: I guess the guy selling the watch doesn't take NO for an
answer. Even
the "I'll buy anything that says Banzai on it" crowd has stayed away
from this one! Maybe if it had a decent watch band on it...

-----

B-O-N-Z-A-I

Dragon: Looked up B-O-N-Z-A-I again and found 3 vhs videos (contacted
several bidder...) and two patches. Interesting that one is listed with
both spellings ' ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI/BONZAI Rare VHS'.
As for the patches, the interesting thing here is that one of the two
patches is the 'back patch' that says 'Team Banzai' and yet the seller
places this item and 'Bonzai'. I wonder if it is just an innocent
mistake or intentional misspelling.

Crazy Horse: The misspelling of BANZAI as BONZAI seems to be a trade
secret. I wonder
how many years BB fans have been paying extra just because of a spelling
error? Change a A for an O and make more dough!!

Amazon.com auction

Checked out Amazon.com BB auctions and found a few things...
The interesting thing at this site is that they offer a 'minimum bid'
and an 'Out Right For Sale' price too.
There are several vhs tapes of TABB for Out Right Too Much, $45 to $50!
Starting bid on two tapes here is $25. Now isn't the average at ebay
like $18???

A nice Jet Car mug for auction, minimum bid of $10. It's a nice mug, I
have this one but got it from Starland years ago, too bad they are
currently available there.

Checking auctions at Amazon with the misspelling and I found several vhs
tapes for sale at $55 to $60! Guess the spelling makes a $10 difference?
Go figure.

Well that's it for a slow week with BBIs Dragon & Crazy Horse. Catch you
all next time and remember to be smart bidders!

**** Noticed a BB counter display going for $9 with only
13 minutes to go. Don't know if it got sniped or not at
the end. - ArcLight ****

Greetings all!

Well BBI Abacus and I have been on vacation all this last week. We
didn't go any where, just stayed around town and did 'stuff'. One of our
visits was to the local animal shelter. We only had in mind to look for
a dog, not any particular kind, a terrier or boarder collie or a mix of
both. Much to our delight and surprise we found a Jack Russell there.
You know, Eddie from the tv show Frasier or Wishbone from PBS only this
dog had a little longer hair. We were second on the list for this dog
and believe it or not the first person didn't come back and bring 'the
family' to see this dog so that put us first! Last Friday we brought the
boy home! We named him 'Rokit' from the Jet Car's license plate. The
name fits! He is a real hand full and a half. A good example is when the
shelter people went to put the microchip into his shoulder it took three
of them to hold him still enough to do it, he's a bit on the strong and
furious side for weighing only 22 pounds. Having had fox terriers for
the last 20 years we are very familiar with this kind of dog (terriers)
and the two breeds are very similar. In fact they were originally breed
by the same person, Jack Russell. Saying this is a smart dog is an
understatement, believe it!

Moving on the BB stuff...
Looks like the BB tv show will not be on Fox's fall line up, but that
not a surprise to this BBI. We would have heard if the pilot was in to
production and that word has not bubbled to the surface yet.

Check out At The Auctions for the latest news about BB memorabilia for
sale at ebay and Amazon.

Just an FYI to see if you are really reading my weekly column, I still
have those Team Banzai (new) Jet Car buttons available (free) so if you
haven't already got one just drop me a personal email with your mailing
address and I'll drop one into an envelope and stick a stamp on it for
you. Believe it!

Gabbs are still going strong twice weekly. Sunday and Wednesday
evenings 6PM PDT and 9PM EDT. The Gabbs last around 2 hours and the
topics are wide as the day is long. This last week we chatted about many
things including Banzai collectibles, our work, email troubles, getting
'fixed' and pets and acting. So see, it's not even close to all BB all
the time. Every one has something to offer to the Gabbs so come check
them out some time sune.
Point your IRC at irc.team-banzai.net and then: /join #Buckaroo. To set
your nick name do: /nick "you name here" (no quotes needed).
The link (and a few others) are below.

Over at the Bunk House there is a new Dopplebock (the Death Dwarf)
adventure going on. There are several interesting things going on at the
'official' site's Bunk house wall. If you have some time and want to see
fun round robin story telling go check it out.
http://www.banzai-institute.com/cgibin/gb/index.html

Well I need to get back to entertaining Rokit now, Abacus is having all
the fun...
I'll get some pictures taken of Rokit and get them up at
Team-Banzai.net's Who's Who in the BBIs wall sune.

Always True Blue,

Random novel quote:
A peal of irksome laughter came from Xan.
"Your from outer space? What planet is it you're from again? I forget."
Whorfin quelled his rage and answered calmly.
"Planet 10."
"Right...Planet 10. Well they haven't gotten you out so far, have they?
How long have you been rotting there?"
"Forty-five years, which is but a day -"
"I know... 'which is but a day' on your planet. Maybe you've got the
time, but I'm not sure about Lizardo. He's not of your planet, is he?"
Whorfin cocked his head a short distance from the phone. Was Xan only
humoring him, only pretending to believe his story about coming from
Planet 10?
