Greetings,

'Nother short one this week. Don't forget, "Don Quixote"
on TNT tonight and undoubtedly several more times this
month, starring our favorite Lectroid/human hybrid, John
Lithgow.

Should be another original newsletter up on the site
now. Upped the scan quality a tiny bit, and it upped
the file size of course. Any views on this. If this
one is too big, I'll drop it down to the same as the
other two. Anybody even downloading these things?

I've been making it to the chats lately, for a little
while at least. Haven't caught too many others there.
Is it the times, or what? I realize the Saturday chat
time is a little tough. Too early for the west coasters
and kills the day for the east coasters. Any suggestions
on this matter? Or any other?

Later...
ArcLight

I know that I have requested this before, but I am
looking for a BB fan that can burn a copy of the soundtrack.
I get it once, but was too lazy to do anything about it.
This time, I am serious and really, REALLY want to get a
cd of the soundtrack.

Thanks

Adam (akorsak@dttus.com)

For anybody who uses the Go!Zilla program for downloading I've set up
a page to show you how to change the graphics in the downloading progress
bar and have included a couple of Banzai images you can add.

If you're interested you can check it out at

Anyone else watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer think Buckaroo Banzai the
other night when seeing this Jonathan guy on comics on posters, writing
books, playing and singing in a band (a trumpet, no less!). Consulting to
the military, fighting evil, etc etc.

**** Hate to admit it didn't occur to me (probably because
I was too busy laughing and cheering Jonathan on). It got a
few BB mentions on the Buffy newsgroups, too, along with
the rumors of a possible Dark Horse BB comic. - ArcLight ****

This week it's a CONSUMER ALERT!

Several times a week I spend some time over at ebay looking at the BB
items that are for auction. I'm often amazed.
A pet peeve of both ArcLight's and mine is folks spending more then they
need to on BB items at auction when the same items are for sale
elsewhere, usually at cheaper prices.

The latest items at ebay that have my dragon flames up and hot are some
patches. (BBI Crazy Horse pointed some of this out to me last week too.)
Here is a quote from a description of such an item: " Its a patch that
was made for the the cast and crew of the movie "Buckaroo Banzai"." BUT,
when you take a look at it and do some comparisons... in the case of
this Team Banzai "jacket back patch", the font is not the same at all! I
did a comparison with two browser windows up, one at the ebay auction
for this item and the other at Starland's BB patches page. They are NOT
the same. I don't believe the patch at ebay is an original prop from the
film. I believe that it's a poor knock-off.
Another patch at ebay, the "Jet Car patch" is starting at auction for
the price of $6.95 + shipping. Starland is asking $4.95 + shipping, no
auction there, just order and get it at that price (+ shipping).
There is a Yoyodyne and 'back to back B's" patch at ebay that looks fine
except the colors seem off (could be the scan) and the quality of the
embroidery is lacking, compared to Starland's offerings.

Some BB patches at ebay seem to be just fine in their color, use of
fonts and embroidery quality. My suspicion is that someone is buying
them from Starland and reselling them at ebay. Starland says they do not
sell patches at ebay.

Disclaimer time: I am not being compensated by Starland to say these
things. I'm doing this article because I feel that there are some
misrepresentations going on over at ebay with BB items and often the
final auction selling prices are much higher then you would pay if you
buy direct. From the mid 80's Starland has been the official supplier of
BB patches (and other items) and have kept the quality and integrity of
the original designs.

TABB videos...
What's with all the vhs videos for sale at ebay for TABB?!? And why are
you all still bidding against each other?
Team work please. I just cringe when I see the videos being bid up into
the $20+ range. But there seems to be nothing I can suggest to slow down
this ridicules trend. Out of the last 27 vhs sales the average auction
selling price for a copy of TABB at ebay was $22. The range swings from
$10 to over $36. There is an unopened 'sealed' copy that's about to top
$40 as I type this. Why?

Be a wise Buckaroo Banzai collector. Do your research, check and compare
prices and quality. Use my 'TABB video auctions at ebay' recommendations
(see bottom of this post). Don't be fooled into spending your hard
earned discretionary money on poor knock-offs, bootlegs and overly
inflated auction prices. Let's work together, be a Team.

FYI, This last week, I made an inquiry to a seller about a BB item for
auction and the reply came with a virus. Luckily I have a service with
my ISP and the virus was detected and erased before it came into my
machine. It was one of those 'worm' viruses that copies it's self and
attaches to all emails you send. Not really harmful, just shouldn't be
there in the first place. I let the sender know that he was spreading a
virus and pointed him to a url where he could learn more about it and
what to do about it.

GABBs continue...
The short form:

Buttons...
I have given out a bunch of Team Banzai buttons from last week's offer.
They will be hitting mail boxes mid next week, end of next week for some
of you out of the country BBIs. Thanks for all the mail on this and the
many nice comments. :)

That's all for this week. Take care, be appreciative of your friends and
think about what you can do for Team Banzai and yourself this next week.

Always True Blue,
BBI Dragon

Random novel quote:
The first glimpse of B. Banzai by General Catburg and the other
personages in the desert blockhouse caused a wave of excitement to sweep
through the room.
"There he is!" someone shouted, at the sight of a figure in a black
commando parachute suit carrying a battered briefcase.
"He's getting in the Jet Car!"
Crawling in, would be more like it. There was no door, only a window
through which he slithered.
