Greetings,

Saturday's "Profiler" took place in and around a location
that would be a 'dam site' familiar to BB fans, even tho'
the show is set in Atlanta and not LA.

Word of a new Peter Weller project somewhere down below.

There are folks on this list who've been around since
the 'glory days' of the original paper newsletters.
Heck, there are folks who worked on those newsletters
on this list. Now, for those that missed out the first
time, the August 1985 issue of World Watch One is available
in PDF format. Due to software limitations, it's not the
most perfect copy, but it's readable and beats paying
through the nose on eBay for photocopies of someone else's
stuff. Hopefully, each weekend will see the addition of
another one until they're all up.

Plus there's a new pic or two on nearly all the gallery pages.

And some not-so-pleasant stuff...

ArcLight

If you haven't seen the movie Free Enterprise, you should. It will
speak to the fan in you all. I've gotta figure out how I can sue the
writers for putting my life on screen.

Stay tuned for the end credits...the very end.

And I'm still waiting for the BB series!

Hi i am Jonathan and Ive loved Banzai Buckaroo since it premiered on HBO in
the mid 80's. I was 8 or 9 at the time. Some kids I knew were into Gremlins,
some Goonies, Indiana Jones, Ghostbusters, and Karate Kid all which came out
around the same time. My movie was BB. I thought I was the only person that
loved the movie and If I told anybody theyd think I was smoking crack or
something. So ive been a closet BB fan all these years and now that up here
in college Im taking a TCF 289 (Sci-Fi films class) and my teacher said we
would be watching BB to the cheers from everybody. I didn't know it had such
a following as he said it did, he said it equals that of "The Rocky Horror
Picture Show". Anyway yesterday I tried to bid on a copy of BB and lost and
was pretty down. But I called every video store here In Tuscaloosa and one
had it! And they told me I could buy it for 6.99!!! They did not know the
treasure they had, so I know own a copy of it and am ecstatic. Anyway enough
about me please put me on the mailing list. Thanks....Cya!

the following was snipped from AICN and is on topic.
<snip>
Rudolf Martin (HIGH ART) will play Vlad the Impaler in PASSIONS OF DRACULA: A
TRUE STORY. The indie project also stars Roger Daltrey, Peter Weller and Jane
March. Shooting begins April 3 in Bucharest. Joe Chappelle will direct from
the Tom Baum script.

this isn't ANOTHER Direct to video movie for Pete, but IF it is I think he'll
be trying to wrangle a huge section of that area.

**** Now here's the part I don't like. See, I try
and keep a pretty hands-off attitude towards the
posts here. From the welcome letter most folks
received when they signed up:

"The List could be considered to be semi-moderated, and
on rare occasions I'll edit them a bit (usually just to
make sure 'Buckaroo Banzai' is spelled right and
that the language remains safely PG)."

So last week a post from a long-time member gets by
me with a line I really should've caught and culled.

As much as I don't want personal differences to spill
over into the list, I feel I have to let the party
targeted respond. This will be the end of it here
on the list, and I'd like to point out something else
about the list from the web page:

"Mainly, just be nice, ya know. Buckaroo would want it
 that way."

If you don't care to read it, skip down the next row of
HB88's.

From:	alandsmith@uswest.net (Alan (BBI Dragon) Smith)

I wish to apologize for placing this post before you in the first place.
This newsletter ideally is a forum for the fun exchange of information,
ideas and opinions. Unfortunately a particular issue needs public airing
since it has become a public concern and was brought to a head by BBI
Fanatic's post in the last issue.

This post of mine has had several drafts before this final version, they
were longer and much more venomous. I have intentionally taken nearly a
week to work this version out and clarify my feelings. This post is not
made in anger.

Since my silence could be mistaken as acceptance of BBI Fanatic's
behavior, I could no longer remain silent.

Well Fanatic, you were correct that I made a few mistakes about the Sci
Fi site's chat rooms. It's a real shame that you have to build yourself
up by knocking me down in front of everyone, but that's to be expected
of you, and this is not the first time with me, or others. Your post
from last week is an excellent example of what we have been tolerating
for months now.

The polite friendly thing to have done would have been to contact me
privately to make me aware of my mistakes and suggest that I might like
to correct them. Just as I privately contacted you when you first make
this post to the BBlist and I expressed my feelings about it. Your
private reply was, to say the least, very rude and you made accusations
and used excessive profanity. Days later, you tried to excuse all this
by stating that you were "ready for a blow up" and hoped we were still
"cool". The fact that you sent off a slightly different version to the
WWO newsletter and didn't bother to ask ArcLight to retract it only
doubles the offense. This kind of behavior is way beyond excuses and
apologies. It is inexcusable.

I take the "weedsmoking 40 foot tall lizard" reference as just plain
slanderous. That is beyond inexcusable, it is criminal.

Call me old fashioned but 'friends' do not treat each other with
contempt, disrespect and rudeness.
Friends do not commit harassment and slander.
Friends ARE supportive, helpful and respectful.

Being a friend has not worked.
Trying to be understanding has not worked.
Trying to reason with you has not worked.
Flaming you has not worked.
Ignoring you has not worked.

I'm just tired of it. This post of yours to the WWO and the BBlist was
the last straw. I could no longer be silent about a fan like you.

Sincerely,
BBI Dragon

Now for some fun exchanging of information, ideas and opinion!

From last issue -Thank you ArcLight for adding that fans of BB can also
get memorabilia at: http://www.starland.com and I too hate seeing folks
bid for these items when they can get them for less at Starland. In
fact, last week I send several e-mails out to bidders that were trying
for a T-shirt and let them know about Starland. What I should have
clarified in my post from last week was that a reliable place to get the
rare novel and the video is eBay.

New news - I still have a bag of Team Banzai (new) Jet Car buttons (pin
backs) that I'm happy to give away for the small favor of registering
with the Buckaroo Banzai online con and an sase. Go to:
http://www.team-banzai.net/ and follow the text links to the event's
pages. Remember I will sent you an email reply when I receive your
registration and when I find your sase in the mail. So, if you don't get
these replies with in a reasonable time contact me at my addy about it.
The con's web site has unfortunately been delayed. I will let you all
know when it is public. :)

BB chats a.k.a. Gabbs. Last week's Gabb on Wednesday evening went well.
Unfortunately we ended up at the Sci Fi site instead of the con's server
chat room. There was one drop-in from the fan population and that was
cool. Saturday's Gabb was less attended. I'm seriously thinking an
evening would be better for a weekend Gabb.
We will be Gabbing this Wednesday again at the Team Banzai chat room. Go
to the following url:
http://www.team-banzai.net/Chat/ check out last week's details from BBI
RallyV if you can't figure it out for yourself. If I don't get the
necessary download going, the alternative Gabb for us Mac and WebTV
people will be at http://www.scifi.com/chat/chatnow.html
Look for a room that I will open with a 'Buckaroo' like title and join
in.
Wednesday March 29th, evening 6 PM PST/9 PM EST
Chats will last for around two hours.
Next weekend's Gabb will be announced on the BBlist.

John O'Connor a.k.a Vincent Schiavelli is on TV weekly! I know I've
mentioned this in the past but Abacus and I watched him again this
weekend on his cooking show titled : The Chefs of Cucina Amore. I
encourage anyone who likes to cook to check your local PBS listings (try
online) for this show. Vincent is a delight to watch. We can't wait to
try the roasted strawberry recipe from the show we just saw when my
berries are ripe. I have a 4 x 4 raised bed of 24 plants.

**** Any chance this show has a web page?? - ArcLight ****

Well this is all for another week. Thank you BBI ArcLight for this
newsletter and please take the time this next week to thank a friend for
their part in your life. :)

Always True Blue,
BBI Dragon

A random novel quote: Professor Hikita and New Jersey are discussing the
camouflage ability of the Lectroids...
New Jersey: "If our minds invent their faces, kind of like potato heads,
none of them ever looks the same to more than one person."
Professor Hikita: "Right. All the people in a room would see the
creature differently. In fact, if you met him yourself on separate
occasions and did not know in advance who it was, you would likely see
him as a totally different individual."
New Jersey: "But if I knew in advance..."
Professor Hikita: "Then your mind would remember him. He would look the
same, depending on how good your memory is."
