Greetings,

The folks at the Institute were doubly saddened today.
Not only was today the day the last original 'Peanuts'
strip was printed, but creator Charles Schultz also
passed away.

TABB will be on the S-F Channel the end of the month.
Check their site for times. I'll put it in here when
we get closer. Sure, they slice the heck out of it, but
it's better than nothing.

Later...

I just got my jet car button after registering for BBcon. It's
very nice -- just like the jet car patch I wear on the shoulder
of my black M-1965 jacket, but button sized. I haven't decided
where to put it yet, but I do look forward to wearing it with
pride in the near future.

See you all at BBcon!

You are right in thinking it does not appear in the Banzai film. As I recall,
it's not in the book, either (though I may be wrong on this.) It was a key
phrase in the film's press information, along with the BBism "Nothing is ever
what it seems, but everything is exactly what it is." Both of these got
picked up by the core fans in those days and were used on letterhead,
buttons, and (as you discovered) t-shirts.

As a sidebar, the "only reason for time" quote DID appear in the film "Late
for Dinner," which was directed by W.D. Richter. Coincidence?

It wasn't in the movie. It was in the book I believe.

"The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once."

Richter worked this quote into the dialogue of the movie "Late For Dinner."
If you haven't seen it, it is worth renting.

Hi:

I apparently loaned someone my copy of Buckaroo Bonzai and
now I can't find
it. I also can't find it at ANY of the online video
stores. Can you help?

Thanks,

**** Best place these days seems to be >>shudder!<<
eBay. Unfortunately, everyone that lists it seems
to think it's "rare", even though at any given time
there's probably a dozen up for auction. Dragon had
an interesting theory to maybe help keep bidding
under control last ish. To quote:

"This is what I suggest and I'm open to input here.

There are at least 28 days in every month. We divide the months into
four
groups of days, each with 7-8 days in each group. Like, February 1st to
7th,
8th to 14th, 15th to 21st and 22nd to 29th.
Now everyone interested in bidding on a copy of TABB checks the month
they were
born in.
Jan., Feb. and March bid on tapes with ending dates of Feb. 1st to 7th.
April, May and June birthdays bid on tapes with ending dates of Feb. 8th
to 14th.
July, Aug. and Sept. bid on auctions ending on Feb. 15th to the 21st.
Oct., Nov. and Dec. B-days bid on copies with ending dates of the 22nd
to 29th.

This simple method will cut down on the number of us bidding against
each other
and should help to bring down the winning price."

While we (the Lists) aren't the only ones out there bidding, it can't
hurt. - ArcLight ****

 Greetings!!!
Has everyone gotten the BB button from BBI Dragon? If not, you should
do so now!!!!
On Friday, I was wearing it on my BEST black leather jacket (it was in
the mid-sixties in the Keys, which is jacket weather).
Anyway, as I was walking out of a store, some tourist looked at the
button on my jacket and said "I saw that movie!" No other words were
spoken, just a nod of the head between us.
That one moment "clicked" together two people who have ever met but
share a great movie experience.
Therefore, make sure you get your BB button from Dragon. You never know
who might look at it and say "I saw that movie!"

Hello everyone!

Let's see, what to report on this week...

BBcon registration is going along will. As of this post we have 44 fans
who have already registered for this online event. Thanks to all who
have done so and please, to those who haven't yet, go do it! It's free,
I will keep the info private and if you send me an sase you will receive
the Team Banzai button. About 2 dozen buttons have already been sent out
to fans. Yours is awaiting... at: http://www.team-banzai.net/ and follow
the text links to the BBcon page. At the bottom you will find the
registration info and form and details on how to get your button.

While I'm on the topic of BBcon... we are still looking for staff
members. I will not bore all of you with the list of open positions
here. Check out the end of this post for the details. I do wish to
welcome BBI Downtown to the BBcon staff! He is taking on Aussie
publicity and is going to help me with the event's programming. Thanks
Downtown!

And, while I've got your attention on your BBI web site,
Team-Banzai.net, I have done an update to it just today. The main focus
on this update is food, bells and whistles. Food because BBI Abacus has
added three new recipes to the back room at Club 88. Go check them out.
They include easy instructions and modifications as well as a picture of
the dish.
As for 'bells and whistles', will they will be obvious when you visit.

BB Gabbs/ chat rooms go on as usual. Come drop in for a few minutes or
stay a while.
Details below.

Kefir Report. I stopped by the local grocery that carries the Kefir and
instead of plain non flavored, they had cherry! So I bought some. It's
not to bad at all. It's not a sour as the plain stuff that I had to add
Hershey's syrup to. And it's still like drinking semi liquid yogurt. If
you can find it, I recommend it.

Movie Report: Finally, Abacus and I rented Mystery Men. No way can
anyone tell me it didn't pay tribute to TABB in one or two places. Why
where those watermelons there anyway? And the bad guy holding the old
style microphone and giving a short speech... come on. Great flick and
it gets two thumbs up from BBI's Abacus and Dragon!

Well, with the GABB info and the BBcon staff positions below, this will
do it for another Dragon Tales. Catch you all next week!

Always True Blue,
BBI Dragon

A random novel quote as usual: The gang has just arrived back at the
Institute with Penny Priddy.
To Mrs. Johnson, "She'll be staying with us for a while," Rawhide said.
"At least until Buckaroo gets back."
Reno to the reader; "I thought the thrust of Rawhide's last remark
unkind and uncalled for, but now was not the time to debate the point."

BBcon Staff
Please look over these Staff positions and see if there is anything that

you wish to help out with. I am giving the open positions a rating
(Easy/Moderate/Tough) on responsibility & difficulty based on my
experience to help with your decisions.
NP = Need person to fill position
NS = Need staff member(s)

NP / NS (Moderate) Art Show / Artist Liaison - contact artists to
contribute to the gallery web page(s). Items can be for viewing and
sale/auction. A focus on BB items, but other items of interest too. You
would also be sending out any artists information and be the general
contact for this end of things. Act as auctioneer or set up eBay account

for the auctions. You do not need to be an artist to do this nor do you
need to be responsible for the web site portion of it.
Timeline: Develop a basic information package and show contacts by
April-May.

NS (Easy) Chat Room Hosts / Moderators - (BBI Relayer and others)
We will need many of these. Basically you hang out in the con's chat
room
so that when someone enters it's not empty. Keep the conversation on
track or on topic. When there isn't a specific topic you will keep
things "lively" and instigate conversation.
2 hour blocks at a time during main programming hours (All PST - Friday
noon to 8 PM, Saturday 9 to 9 and Sunday 10 to 6). Familiarity with IRC,

channel services and Eggdrop bots a plus but not necessary. There should

be a main moderator and an alternate for each two hour block.

NP / NS (Moderate) Charity Auction - Organize and solicit items for the
auction. Act as auctioneer or set up eBay account for the auction.
Time line: Show progress in setup and items by early July. Work with
Dealer's room and Art Show staff members on auction items.

(Moderate because of the need for decorum)
NP / NS Guest Liaison(s) - At least 1 person to be able to help guests
while "at" the convention. Act as guides, answer questions, make them
feel welcome. This would mean being available during main programming
hours (All PST - Friday noon to 8 PM, Saturday 9 to 9 and Sunday 10 to
6).

NS Programming assistant- (BBI Dragon, Downtown and ?) responsible for
contacting guests and setting up the schedule for the chat room and
interviews. I'd like someone to help & bounce ideas off of. I would
consider the assistant's
position a Moderate responsibility position.

NS (Easy) Souvenirs - one or more people could work on this as separate
offerings/downloads. Got any ideas? This is open to a lot of creative
folks out there to create your souvenir ideas, if someone would like to
organize this, that would also be helpful.

Note #1 from the Chair - I am concerned on two issues with the
souvenirs. #1 is that the con has no $$'s to support any projects right
now and I wonder if that will ever change.
#2 is the issue of copyrights. We can likely get away with creating our
own
logo items for BBcon but the minute we produce anything with the
standard logos that
are identified with BB/Team Banzai we could run into trouble. The free
downloads are the most likely and safest avenues, however I would like
to see something else available.

Note # 2: Maybe an "Agreement" with private persons that could make and
/or finance BBcon memorabilia and offer it for sale at the con online
and privately. There would be a limit to productions numbers and
possible donation expectations.

GABB info: Available at Team-Banzai.net in full details or:

We will be at: http://home.talkcity.com/

Wednesday February 16th, evening 6 PM PST/9 PM EST
and,
Saturday February 19th, morning 9 AM PST/12 PM EST

Once you get to the above site the instructions are:
Click on "chat" on the black strip near the top of the front page.
Then go to "If you already know the room you want to chat in?
Enter here:", type in "BUCKAROO" (all caps) and click on "Go!"
From there you'll have to type in a user name in the "not a member yet"
area.
This site won't like "BBI(space) your name" as a user name. So I suggest
that you use a "-" between "BBI" and your name (like "BBI-Dragon") or
just use your name alone. Some servers do not like the "-" between "BBI"
& name".
You'll just have to find out what works for you.
Then click on "chat".

Chats will last for around two hours.
