Greetings,

Well, another day, another...no, that's too depressing.
Anyway, hope all is well with everyone.
Things are progressing here in their usual fashion.
The Creation Con on Jan 25th was okay. Saw a BB hat and
another BB T-shirt (aside from mine) in the crowd.
Stands were still selling said shirts and hats, which made me
happy. What made me even happier was the supply of
bootleg soundtracks which were available for only $40.
Pricey maybe, but less than half of what I'm used to seeing
them for. Of course I picked one up.
The gent running the table mentioned that some other
dealer had wanted to buy out the stock but he wouldn't
let him because he knew the guy would double the price
and put them on his table.
It's not just me, right? There are more out there who would
like to purchase a real, legit, official soundtrack, aren't there?
(this isn't exactly rhetorical - if you *really* are interested, let
me know with an email. something simple like "Subj: soundtrack"
and either 'yes' or 'no' in the message)
For folks interested in getting the elusive BB laserdisc, check
near the bottom - there's a used one up for bids. Seems
like the high bid so far was $65 or $70.
As always, welcome to the new members. Anyone who hasn't,
please check out the sites up top for the Frequently Asked
Questions file and other goodies. And if there's anything
missing, let us know.
And check out Figment's message below, too. Let's make
sure we don't let the media world forget about BB.
If they can remaster and rerelease "Universal Soldier" on
disc...

Until next time,
Chris

Good evening, all.

Autarkis here. I don't have much of a BB story, but here it is, anyway.

I remember back in '85 or '86 when BB first showed up on pay cable,
specifically Cinemax. I watched it a few times, but never understood it,
mostly because I never caught the entire movie. So, I carefully filed
away what I had seen in the back of my mind, vowing to sit down one day
and figure out exactly what the heck was happening. Flash forward about
a decade, and I saw an advert for BB on the Encore pay channel. I saw
the famous jet car run, and all those memories came rushing back. Now
I'm a BB fan, about a decade too late, but then again, time never did
mean very much to me. As long as it gets done, eh?

So get this....After reading a few e-mails about BB videos costing $150
bucks or more.....I go to this little out of the way video store and hot
digity gosh darn-it sha-zam...There it is, just sitting on the rack. So
being thrifty ( as well as being a bastard and a jewish fella ) I asked the
slighty chucky, but rather cute and too young for me counter girl if this
video was for sale. She gave me a look like I just tracked dog crap across
her rug,...punched it into the computer and said...."$6 bucks."

I WIN!

So the point is...if you are looking for a good copy.....(doesn't look like
some white trash family rented it and played it in the ol' top loader thats
covered with beer stains and only one head is working.) Check out some
video stores. Ya just might save yourself $144 dollars.

Hey, did I mention that I'm working on a Buckaroo Banzai
article for Video Watchdog? Can you think on anything you'd like to see
covered in the article? I'm trying to track down some info on who, if
anyone, intends to put out a new laserdisc release.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Clancy Brown was not in this scene.
Jeff Goldblum asks Pepe Serna the eternal question, and Serna answers,
"I'll tell you later ..."

Hi,

When I was 14 I saw Buckaroo Banzai in the theater (by myself, I
think... kind of a loner) and even though I must admit my
understanding of it was less than thorough, I remember coming
out of the theater thinking that it was the coolest thing I ever saw!
My sister's pet birds were named Buckaroo and Penny, I used
Penny Priddy as my "pen name" at school, etc.

I didn't see the movie for probably eight or nine years after that,
but as soon as I did it all came back. About a year ago I looked up
Buckaroo and Co. on the Internet and was astonished to discover
little more than fleeting mention of The Movie! But happily,
thanks to people like you this has changed.

Anyway, sorry to ramble on, I'm just so happy to discover that no,
it's Not Just Me.

Thanks!
Heather

Hey guys, Pepper here. I downloaded the World Crime League script
about two months ago and totally fell in love with it. It has now been
circulated to at least five of my friends who love Buckaroo and the gang,
even if they aren't as fanatic about them as I am. (We even do lines from it
in class- "Dean Anderson's daughter? She's a cow." ) Well anyway, four of my
friends have a metal band and I approached them about playing the opening
theme as Ernest Cline describes it. As soon as it is recorded I'll get one of
my more technologicly inclined friends to help me find a place for it. Oh
yeah, I almost forgot; the guitarist for the band, Sepsis, also wrote
a script that is a spoof/homage of the Airplane movies. Among refrences to
Shaft marathons and music by Twisted Sister he's promised to
put a stratgicly placed watermelon in one of the scenes. Sorry about spelling
but, Buckaroo would be proud that I tried.

Helping to get the Banzai message out in Tallahassee, FL,

Pepper

P.S. Has anyone actually bought a Buckaroo shirt from Starbase 21 in Tulsa or
knows of anywhere I can get one that is closer to my locale?

Buckaroo Bonzai and the 8th dimnension is one of my favorite films. The
whole concept of the movie is so dynamic and rare, it's hard to find
movies with that style. Anyhow I'm a really big fan of the movie and I
was wondering if there was a way I could purchase a copy of the movie.
I've looked everywhere and it's not available. Where can I find it ?And
another thing is there a sequel in the works??

To all BB Fans :

I've just rented Bukkaroo Banzai and seen it for the first time
is about 5 years and I'm proud to say that it is one of the best movies
I've ever seen , I especially liked the ending scene when they all
walked to the beat of the funky music. Everything in that movie kicks
major butt!!! I've been searching for a copy of BB and I found out it's
discontinued, are they going to rerelease it on video? And another
question , I heard that a sequel is in the works but is it a rumor or
what. Last but not least , I'm taking a poll on how many people would
like to see a sequel so you're input would be greatly appreciated.

I would just like to say that after a long and winding road I have
finally come across of a copy of the Buckaroo Banzai book to add to my
collection of Buckaroo stuff!! And am I happy.. out of the blue I got a
call from a bookstore in my area that I left my name at and they found a
copy while they were sifting through their stock.. in fact the copy I
got is in excellent shape and it is the first printing.. (I don't know
if they did any more than one printing, someone else know??) Anyways,
it has some great pictures that aren't in the movie like a picture of
little Buckaroo and his family and a picture of a 'lectroid snoozing
with dream-goggles on.. pretty cool stuff.. I'll scan some of the images
if anyone needs 'em for their web-site or whateva! I just thought I'd
share about the treasure I have come upon since I am very excited!

On a recent 'C/Net Central' one of the hosts was explaining the concept
behind compressed files such as ZIP and SIT files, and used a rock
analogy that was kind of familiar, ie. taking the empty space out of the
rock (file) to make it smaller so it could be transmitted over the 'net
faster.
Transferring files by way of the 8th Dimension. I like that.
