Howdy all,
Yet another missive for your collective enjoyment. Closing in on 200 members
now. Pretty cool, if you ask me.
Depending on how vocal you all are in the near future this *may* be the last one
for a little bit. Some major life changes coming up the end of the month so I may
be a tad distracted (of course, if anyone out there is hiring, it may cut down on
the distraction factor...).
Never fear, the AOL account is staying up and as soon as I get
settled in my new pad, the computer will get hooked back up, so you might
not even notice.
Just felt I should warn you.
A welcome to all the new members since last time. I remind you that the archives
are available from the web and FTP sites in the header. Take a peek.
And if you're changing (or dropping) email accounts, *please* let me know
beforehand.
I've collected quite a few "returned mail" messages and they're just not
that exciting.
As always, questions, comments, criticisms, trivia, fanfiction, etc. are always
welcome.

Always True Blue!
Chris

Discussion? What discussion?

Sorry, but you know it had to be done!:)

And I have a _really_ dumb question. Someone tell me again who was set to
play Sandra Banzai?

Any more laserdisc news?

Much as I hate for my first message to the list to be bad tidings,
Psychotronic Video #22 has this listing in it's Never To Be Forgotten
Section:

ROSALIND CASH (56), from Atlantic City, first received attention co-starring

in THE OMEGA MAN (71). [The section goes on to list other roles for Cash,
including THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI (84), where she played John
Emdall.] Cash, who was a founding member of the Negro Ensemble Company, was
also a regular on GENERAL HOSPITAL and appeared on many TV shows. She had
 cancer.

Great page.

I've been a Buckaroo fan since '84. Saw it 5 times in the theatre, and
the laserdisk is a "keeper".

Buckaroo seems to have struck a reasonant chord in a widespread,
eclectic group of intelligent individuals flung across the breadth of
our planet. That can't be a bad thing.

It remains a part of me.

Please add my address to the Buckaroo Banzai Mailing List.

I have been a fan of Buckaroo Banzai (both the character and the film)
ever since its theatrical release. As I walked out of the theatre, I
said to myself, "This is an instant cult classic." I then went back the
very next night and saw the film again to try to figure out just what
I'd seen the night before.

When people ask me about Buckaroo Banzai, I simply inform them that
"it's the single best use of celluloid ever in the history of mankind."

Howdy y'all!
I'm a long-time BB fan who just recently got motivated enough to find out
how much there is on the web in relation to this subject. I would be
extremely joyed to be signed on to your group, and provide the following
info for such purposes-
Name- Shawn Taylor
Handle- Packrat (so named because I have this enormous collection of
stuff, just all kinds of stuff, you name it,it's in there, books, toys,
potential "found art," things of great societal value and worth, and lots
of just plain junk. The computer age has been a boon since you can collect
junk on your computer and not have to climb over it to get to the kitchen.

I saw Buckaroo Banzai when I was still in grade school, and have pretty
much been a fan ever since. I am currently in search of a copy of the
book, I had one way back then but it is long gone, so any suggestions or
connections there are especially welcome.

E-mail - staylor@mindspring.com
Location- southeast USA

Looking forward to hearing from you...

Subj:	entry onto the Buckaroo mailing list

From:	Cochrane@world.std.com (Ian Cochrane)
To:	wwatchone@aol.com

Hi,

I first saw Buckaroo Banzai on video and wondered where I was when it came
out in the theatres. I read
something that said that it had a very limited screening. The dialogue and
concept are what caught me. The
whole idea that Orson Welles "War of the Worlds" broadcast was actually some
kind of conspiracy coverup is
wonderfully looney. But that's just the start of the lunacy. The names. John
Yaya, John Small Berries, John
Bigboote (Big-boo-tay! Big-boo-tay!). "What's a watermelon doing there?"
Aliens disguised as Rastafarians. It's
just out there.

Background: I'm 38 years old. I was a big Star Trek fan. Now, I think Star
Trek is overexposed. I think it's
also too politically correct. The original series featured not only a black,
but a black women, cutting edge
for its time. The Next Generation had to dance around homosexuality in the
episode introducing the trill. It's
no longer bucking the system, it is the system. I'm into the X-Files. The
recent show about the big blue
monster was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. (You coming on to me,
Sculley?) I'm a recovering
codependent who's read lots of Melodie Beattie and John Bradshaw. My favorite
book is "Reflections on the Art
of Living". It's a biography of Joseph Campbell. I go to movies. Independence
Day was great, but sometimes I
wonder about the societal anger it's tapping into.

So, sign me up. I look forward to the e-mail.

From:	relayer@ecentral.com
To:	wwatchone@aol.com

yo... there have been some revisions at Blue Blaze Station #23....

i have added midi files attached to the pages!

You will need to be running Netscape 3.0 to hear them...
NOTE: these files will NOT play on Netscape 2.0 or the equivalent... they
will be ignored.

I don't know about MS Internet Explorer; 3.0 SAID it would play them but i
have not gotten it to work...

the files will take approx. 30 seconds to load and there will be a small
console to either turn off the sound or to crank it up...

any bug reports should be sent to:
relayer@annex.com

also, i have added a Registry; go to the Conference Room and choose "Please
sign in"

hopefully, AOL will let you run Netscape 3.0; if there's a problem with
accessing the Institute, PLEASE let me know! I have tried to be fair to
other browsers, but if the one you're using can't handle tables, child
windows or the like, then please express your dissatisfaction to your
service provider! Everything works fine over Netscape 2.0 and excellent
under 3.0.

have fun!

From:	disnew@ix.netcom.com (Carolyn Disnew)
To:	wwatchone@aol.com

I remember sitting in a times square theatre with my friend Reeba,
laughing hysterically and just not wanting the movie to end. We soon
noticed that not only was no one else in the theatre laughing, but some
of the patrons were even walking out. For about 30 seconds we thought
that we might be a little strange for enjoying the movie so much, but
quickly decided that the rest of the theatre audience was much stranger
than we could ever be.

We agreed to return the next day to see BB again. Unfortunately, the
movie had already been replaced. I then decided to light a votive and
pray to the great celluloid god that the sequal would come out
soon...It didn't...I became a buddhist and moved to Whittier Alaska.
(Not really, but I could have.)

Carolyn

and I am wondering what is still/now out there.

Hey, there - i'd like to be put on the mailing list if
possible. I'm starting a computer cosulting business,
not uncoincidentally called "Banzai Consulting". Actually,
I came to this page looking for a good graphic for it.
And, oh yeah- my nickname is Perfect Tommy (the
real name is Thomas Klopf). I know it's probably a blasphemy
to call myself that, but somebody else gave me the name
and it stuck. Anyway, I'm amazed at the number of people
that are into that movie. Really cool, at that.
Well, the info is down below, and I appreciate the effort
you've made with all of this.
