Greetings once again!
Hard to believe there's already more for yet another digest. Cool! Folks got
time on their hands now that the summer is here? Fine by me, keep 'em
coming.
Probably many of you have seen Jeff Goldblum in 'ID4' by now.
And both John Lithgow and Robert Ito are in an odd little thing on
HBO called "Hollowpoint."
I caught a bit on Entertainment Tonight (I think) about Peter Weller dropping
out of directing some movie he was working on, but didn't catch the title.

Until next time, play hard, play fair, nobody hurt.

Greetings, members of Team Banzai!

Quick intro:

I'm Vince, 29, BB fan since 1984, member of the original fan club
(Hi Denise, if you're out there!), Blue Blaze Irregular name: "Synth",
have tons of cool BB merchandise locked away in a safety deposit box
in Switzerland, keeper of the BB script & trivia/references web pages,
and am OVERJOYED that the rights to BB have FINALLY been relinquished
by Gladden Entertainment. We waited 16 years, and it's finally paid
off! Maybe there's still hope for a sequel once again.

Two items:

1. Why isn't this mailing list going out weekly, or daily? It's
hard to get any good discussion going with digests being sent out
    so sporadically.

<<Hey, folks send in enough posts, I'll be glad to send it out weekly.
Whaddaya say folks? - Chris >>

2. I think we as Buckaroo fans have an obligation to get THE QUOTE
right. You all know the line from the movie, the one that somehow
made it into the mass public consciousness and has become a part of
our culture -- people on the street know it, but don't know where
it came from. Of course I'm talking about:

"No matter where you go ... there you are."

Problem is we frequently see it cited as "wherever you go" instead
of "no matter where you go". It's a nitpick, but I for one am
proud that BB has had this influence on mainstream society, so I
personally think we should do our part to make sure people know the
    correct quote.

Sayonara,
Vince

Hey,

I am a *huge* fan of "Buckaroo Banzai" .....
I was there opening day way back in 1984 at the old "Imperial Six" theatre in
Toronto ( it was a lovely old
theatre that was transformed into a "mutiplex" ~ I saw "Buckaroo" on one of
the larger screens, and got a cool
little pamphlet with cast and credits, and stuff .... I still have that,
along with the "BlueBlaze Irregular"
newsletter that I received from FOX after I wrote a gushing fan letter to
them, praising the film ) ..

I also got one of the cool head-bands ( still have that ) and I snagged the
poster, the press-kit and the
book, also ( wasn't there also a Marvel comics version - Didn't get that )
...

I copied the film from PayTelevision up here, and ended up watching the darn
thing so often that the tape
looks decidedly shop-worn !!

Just watching another PayTelevision flick the other night ( "HollowPoint"
starring Tia Carrere ) but notable
because it featured the inimitable John Lithgow & Robert Ito in supporting
roles ...

Sorry, but I can't see those two together *without* thinking of "Buckaroo
Banzai" !!!

Also saw the mucho bally-hooed "ID4" and was *bored*, but enjoyed Jeff
Goldblum playing his latest variation
on "New Jersey" Sidney Zweibel !!!

Looking forward to more feedback from WorldWatchOne, and regards to
Mrs.Johnson !!

Hey fellow cavaliers! I have a point of triva to request serious
investigative in regards to a story I heard several years ago at a scifi
con re Heinlein and L Ron Hubbard making a bet for $100K to write a book
that would found a greater religion than the other. heinlein wrote
Stranger in a Strange Land and founded the sexual revolution and the
whole new age thingy, while L Ron Hubbard wrote Dianetics and founded
the Scientology Mega Cult, thus winning the bet. Some freinds and I have
been discussing the story in the Transhumanist group and there is some
question as to the veracity of the story, so if any of you hounds can
give some positive feedback, I would appreciate it.

I've seen it twice now (preview on the 2nd, and the next day for the
official opening) and all I can say, the urge to whip off New Jersey/ War of
the Worlds in-jokes during some of Jeff Goldblum's scenes was hard to resist.

Here's something wierd,
9 summers past, when i was but a wee tot, i went on a YMCA field trip
to Sea World, a marine biology theme park in San Diego. I sat down for the
trained dolphin show, which starred a dolphin who was supposedly the same
cetaecean who played flipper on the old tv show. When the dolphins finished
their tricks and the audience left the theatre, the PA system played the
closing credit music from Buckaroo Banzai. The music attached itself to my
synapses like one of those little ugly creatures Buckaroo found under his
truck, and i have been humming it compulsively ever since. True story.

PS, i have both issues of the marvel comic adaptation of the movie. And i got
a hella cute headband that was givven away (i presume) at comic book
convetions to promote the release of the movie. It is red and yellow and
reads "TEAM BANZAI".

Like most of your fans, I saw Buckaroo Banzai when it first came out, then
went back another 16 times. I own a couple copies of the movie, the movie
trailers, the press kits with head bands, a satin jacket, the book, the 6ft
french lobby movie poster..blah blah blah...you get the idea
I mostly just lurk here, but I'd thought I'd let you know....

Hey BBI's,

First I must say, wow, new members-cool. Now I must say, what do you mean
3rd Rock is lame? It is by far the best show on television, next to X-Files
and the Simpsons, of course. It is very subtle, so you kinda have to watch
it with your full attention. John Lithgow is my favorite actor, true, so I
may be biased, but the show rules, trust me.

WWatchOne..
Here is something I think to be important to fans and or
collectors. There seems to be versions of the film running around
with the spelling BONSAI on the label. It would appear, as I have no
actual information, that these are very poorly manufacturered
remakes. Do you have any insight on the spelling error?
