Hi all,
A little early this time, but it's a holiday, so why not?
That and the fact that there's already a fair amount to post.
Hope the weekend is fun and safe for all who may be celebrating.

Take care,
Chris

Hey, Fellow Blue Blaze Irregulars--BB was mentioned in the Editorial section
of last week's LA TIMES Sunday Edition. The week before, there was an article
on the success of John Lithgow's new series "3rd Rock From The Sun"(which I
think is pretty lame, myself!), but while various roles were mentioned, BB
was left out of the article. A fan wrote in to say that Dr. Lizardo wouldn't
be amused by his exclusion.

"Tell him it's Lord John Whorfin calling. That's W-H-O-R-F-I-N, you got that
honey? John-J-O-H-N," John Lithgow, Buckaroo Banzai.

P.S. I didn't get to go to the X-Files Con last week, so I still don't know a
good local source for BB t-shirts, but I did see two at the last one in
Burbank(just my luck, I didn't have the bucks for them back then, but I do
now!).

L'Avventura Games is currently putting the finishing touches on KNIGHTS OF
TORQUE & RECOIL (tm), a contemporary action-pulp roleplaying game that's
both kin and homage to our favorite movie. The closest thing to a licenced
BBRPG out there.

hi-

ANYONE who has a lead on a soundtrack costing less than 85 dollars-let me
know. I have tried Supercollector in California, but they have never
answered me. I found it once for like I said about $85, but I an not sure i
want to pay that. But I may:)

Did you see Peter Weller's spot on Politically Incorrect w/ Bill Maher? It
was pretty interesting, except they kept calling him "robocop"....blech. He
always has been and always will be Buckaroo.

I saw Buckaroo on its opening weekend back in '84 and fell in love with the
whole world of Team Banzai rather quickly. Now that I'm the ripe old age of
28, I'm amazed at the number of younger fans out there who (like the rest of
you,) caught the film on video.
I own a few original t-shirts which always get a reaction out of people on
the street nere in New York City.
I read of a bootleg soundtack from Michael Boddicker's score. Any extras
floating around out there? If so beam me a line...

How ya doin.

I'm a huge BB fan, but I'm really here for lurking purposes. I'm writing a
NetGuide on scifi and Buckaroo will hopefully be a feature page.
Unfortunately, there really isn't that much to work with web wise. I'm
not sure why this is the case. I mean, I didn't expect the online
presence to be on the level of Trek or even Blade Runner, but I at least
thought it would measure up to Godzilla. All Blue Blaze Irregulers with
the drive and means should really start putting up some pages. Besides
the Banzai Institute, this ML, and Rafterman's page, there really ain't
much goin on. Maybe by the time we update the book, someone will
have taken action.

To maintainer of the list, greetings!! I would like my name to be
added to the World Watch One mailing.
I first encountered BB8D during its first week of theatrical release
at my local cinema. The theatre was packed here in Edmonton, Alberta
(granted, it was playing at the cinema closest to our University...),
and the film enjoyed a month-long run at least (better than it did in
many places, I'm sure!). I remember thinking that it was amazing that
such an eccentric film could actually exist in the money-driven world
of moviemaking. My friends and I hummed the songs and quoted the
dialogue ever after; we bootlegged the panned/scanned movie off our
local movie channel and watched it many times. I bought the book (I
still have it!), and when I got a laserdisc player, I taped the
soundtrack from the laserdisc so I could play it in my van as I drove
the kids to school. Last weekend, I shared the film with my seven
year-old son for the first time. Quite a long and exciting
relationship with a movie that 'nobody' saw!!

I think it sucks that CB goes in for the part of the hero and ends up as the

villain. He is a good hero! Oh well, back to IRC (by the way, #banzai is
almost
 always open).

Hi, my name is Kelly Wilson at KWilson@mail-newrock.coretech.com

I just found your homepage and wish to be put on the mailing list.

I've been a fan since college (1985) where I saw the movie for the
first time on a friends vcr (I have never seen the movie on the big
screen). I have seen the movie over 70 times, own two copies of the
book, the screenplay, various promo items and patchs, the US 1-sheet,
several movie stills and, of course, the movie itself.

I would love any recommendations of fan-fic and con info. I also
collect posters in a big way (Man from U.N.C.L.E., 007, etc...) and
would love to get any foreign movie posters for B.Banzai, in what
other countries was it released?

Thanks

What's up?
For my favorite character, I would have to say Emilio Lizardo, but for
one of the "Good Guys" it is definately Perfect Tommy. Buckaroo says it's best.
"Because you're perfect."

What more can you say?

Just thought I'd bounce this one off you.

Where does one get a copy of the soundtrack? I've made phone call's
from coast to coast to all sorts of places to no avail. I would even be
happy with a taped copy of the soundtrack if no one wants to give up
their original.

    Any Ideas?

I apologize if I'm doing this wrong; I seem to remember something about some
special code to put on Subject line to join a mailing list. Anyway, I live
in Gainesville, FL. My exposure to BB came from seeing a poor video of the
movie after it had been on some premium channel. I was curious, because
friends in my SF club kept laughing about some watermelon. Well, the movie
hooked me, but Earl Mac Rauch's book reeled me in. I am a Christian, and the
love and caring exhibited by BB and his friends looked like what we are
supposed to be aiming for. Since then, I've subscribed to a few fanzines
(World Watch Wire,The Penny Paradox, and The Cavalier) and kept dreaming.

Count me definitely in! For a little background - I am a 46 year old divorced
female Systems Technical Engineer, which means if it has to do with PCs and
their networks, I know it and do it, from wiring to programming. I have a
grown son age 26. Hobbies include interests in particle physics and quantum
mechanics. I like most SF in general, a few things in particular. I am also a
lifelong Trekker, a Whovian, a long-time RPG player, and a maniacal
appreciator of Harlan Ellison and his writing. I am known as The WolfMistress
and have my own Web Page at http://angelfire.com/pages1/Wolfen/index.html.
I added a link to World Watch One.

I remember being intrigued by the ad blub for "Buckaroo" when it was in the
theaters, but I didn't get to see it until it was on one of the cable movie stations. It was
instant love!
It's like a comic-book (of which I have an extensive collection, all Marvel,
early-'60s to late-'70s), but it is also intelligently done. It doesn't "talk down" to its
audience - and there is a sound scientific premise for Buckaroo's 'oscillation
overthruster'. Also, the tie-in with Orson Welles' famous "War of the Worlds" broadcast is
magnificently done. I have a recording of the actual broadcast as it was done.
It is one of my all-time favorite adaptations.

The Lectroids are a hoot, and Christopher Lloyd was the quintessential
"Bigboote". And I hadn't known at that time that John Lithgow was so
good at campy humor! My favorite name is John Smallberries, one of the
guards in the shack when Matt Clark (Sec. of Defense) came
barrelling through....

But if I have to pin down exactly what I like about the movie -- I can't.
I've tried over the years and the *whole* movie always comes to mind,
especially Peter Weller's characterization of Buckaroo. As with other
perfectly-cast characters, I cannot picture anyone else *ever*
playing Buckaroo (in hopes of another movie, maybe??). The only thing I
didn't like was Rawhide's death. Clancy Brown created an exquisite character
I definitely wanted to see more of through the rest of the movie and beyond.

Pleased to join the crowd, here. I've been a WebRunner for sometime, and just
now found you all by way of Fanatic BBR on the Sci-Fi BuzzBoard.
Hope to hear from anyone at all!

"And that's all there is to say about that."

WolfMistress
