Greetings,
Hope all are well. Things are cruising right along here. More folks
signing up every week.

I've put a few more things up in the Archives. I still plan on more
pictures. Any fave scenes? I haven't had any luck getting decent
captures from the "Editors Print" but I'm still trying occasionally.
If anyone *has* some that they'd be willing to share...?

When I announced that the web page was 'open for business' I
mentioned how AOL's built in browser was, shall we say, less
than perfect to use to view it. Well, if you're on AOL and try
version 3.0 of their software (for Windows) it looks much better.
Still not as good as on Netscape, but better.

Another note: if you want to email someone on the list privately,
but there's no "@whatever.com" after their name, it should be
"@aol.com" (without the quotes, of course).
Of course, if it's something that could be of interest to the List,
please send a copy here too.

Remember, though the focus is "TABB", I have no problems if
you want to mention some other projects the players have been
involved with. And there's always fan-fiction; feel free to send
any to be added to the Archives. Mrs. Johnson could use the work,
trust me. (just don't let her see I wrote that!)

Ah, I'd better go before I get in more trouble.
Take care all,
Chris

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share my experiences concerning Buckaroo Banzai with everyone on
the list. As far as a favorite character, I'd have to say Pinky Carruthers
since the smirk he has on his face and the way he struts during the end
credits cracks me up every time.

I first saw The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension at
a Midnight showing on the big screen at the Aquarius Theater in Palo Alto, CA
on August 5th, 1995. I found out about the showing on the net and a friend
of mine, who had seen the film before and loved it, decided to go and drive
my girlfriend and I down to see it. I really liked it, especially the
soundtrack and the way the storyline and plot wasn't fed to you. I
immetiately wanted the soundtrack and to know more about the film.

Fastforward to about 4 months later. I had gotten a copy of the bootleg BB
soundtrack CD, the BB newsletters, the laserdisc of the film, a script, and
the bootleg workprint version of the film. I had found the Blue Blaze
Station #23 maintained by Relayer and found a wealth of information there. I
had all this information about where to get this great BB stuff and no one to
share it with...until I found the Buckaroo Banzai board on AOL and discovered
Chris's BB mailing list.

Chris and I talked on e-mail and he was asking for information on the film
so, in one fevered weekend, I pounded out a Buckaroo Banzai FAQ with all the
information I had about where to find the stuff that I found. At the same
time, Chris was working on his own FAQ, which focused more on the fan side of
BB with bios of the movie characters and all the films that the BB stars had
been in.

The information in both FAQ's seemed to complement each other and we decided
to combine our FAQs into one big resource for BB fans everywhere. Version
2.0 of the Buckaroo Banzai FAQ can be found on the web at :

http://www.slip.net/~figment/bb/bbindex.shtml

The text version of the FAQ can be found in the Wwatchone archives found at :

FTP: users.aol.com/wwatchone/download

which is maintained by Chris (Banzai88@aol.com).

As you'll find in the FAQ, a rerelease of BB is in the works (Hopefully in a
director's cut or at the very least in a special edition!) and there is a
chance we may actually see a sequel! This is a great time to be a BB fan and
I can't wait to see what else develops in the future!

Hey, this is great! Finally people who can stay awake during this movie!
Anyone I try to subject to it falls asleep. No vision, I guess.

Well, I am a bona fide Buckaroo addict, yet I am alnost always broke and
live in Ohio so I have little merchandise. Just a patch and a button and
the graphic novel of the movie. But I go to sci fi marathons each year and
I get to meet lots of other BBI folks. Actually, a 24 hour sci fi marathon
is where I first saw the movie. But I (you guessed it) fell asleep. Well,
it ran at 4am. I know I know, no excuse.

As for my favorite Cavalier-Perfect Tommy. My adoration for New Jersey
stems from a Hollywood crush on Jeff Goldblum. Look for him in Woody
Allen's Annie Hall. He has one line, during the party scene at Paul Simons
house.  He is seen on the phone to presumeably his gurhu saying;
"This is Davis. Yeah, I, I forgot my Mantra."

And there was someone looking for patches-If a MARCON convention ever comes
to your town-go to it. I have seen the Yoyodyne patch there, as well as the
Team Banzai and the Banzai Institute patches.

Still looking for a pink flapper dress for the ultimate Halloween costume,
Xan Hess

PLease add me to your mailing list. Also: I represent Event Horizon
Productions, a role-playing game design firm in Lawrence, KS. We are very
interested in licensing BB for a game. Would you know who we could contact
about that? ANy response would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dear fellow BBI's

Hi... In the last issue, I erroniously reported that BlockBuster
Video had copies availible of THE movie... I'm highly embarresed to report
that the Blockbuster near me had ONE copy, reasons unknown... I'm sorry for
sending everyone on a wild goose chase, but it just goes to show I'm not
Perfect (Tommy)! Once again, Sorry

Subj:	First BB watching

Hello,
First off I'll introduce myself. My name is Erik McCloud, and I'm an on
again, off again student at the University of Michigan (currently off) and an
employee on the line at Ford Motor.
My first time watching BB was in the 8th grade. A friend and I decided to
rent the movie for 2 reasons: 1) How could anyone resist the description of
Buckaroo (neurosurgeon/rock star/comic book hero) 2) We were big fans of the
Bloom County comic strip, and one character, Cutter John, would zip around in
his wheel chair yelling, "BANZAI!!!!" So it kinda was guilt by association.
Gave it a go and we were hooked ever since.
As for favorite character outside of BB...hmmm...well a vote of moral
support for Perfect Tommy because he needs it, but I really got to vote for
John Parker and his keen delivery of the understatement, "...the situation is
exploseeef."

Looking forward to the next issue,

Erik McCloud

hello six or seven years ago a friend of mine lent me a video of Buckaroo,
it proptly became one of my favorite movies. For years I have looked
around for bits and pieces (my favorite being the rocket car travelling
through the mountin toy, it keeps me amused for hours). Any whay this
site is just amazing, and I want (no, need) to be on the world watch one
mailing list.

Subj:	Favorite Character

I think this was John Lithgow's finest moment. Truly, he portrayed the
evil this character needed to posess. He was great. Giving himself
shock treatment at the asylum and his rally when he asked "Where are we
going?" (reply: Planet 10) "When are we going?", (reply:
pause...Real..soon). I thought I'd never stop cracking up!

It seems as though this movie might have been one of the very first for
the cast of actors who later became really famous. One of them should be
the least bit embarassed about this venture. Afterall, where did the
idea for "Back to the Future" come from. I'm pretty sure BB was filmed
before BttF.

Keep up the good work

Les and Janis Lurey

sell do they? That's one thing I've never been able to dig up...
