Salutations, Fellow Blue Blazers!

Sorry it's taken so long for me to show up here, hope I
didn't miss anything.
First, if you haven't already, RUN, don't walk, to my Buckaroo Banzai
we site, full of great links and graphics:

http://ourworld.compuserve.com/ecline/banzai.htm

It's also linked from Relayer's Banzai Institute Page.
Check it. And drop me e-mail from the page if you
want me to put your BB Irregular name/profile up on
the page (see mine for an example).

EXCITING NEWS: I'm also currently hot on the trail of
the unproduced script for Buckaroo Banzai Against the
Wolrd Crime League!!!! Earl Mac Rauch wrote it, but it
never got out of pre-production. The script exists! And I
think I know a guy who can help me get my hands on a copy.
The second I do, that sucker is gonna be posted to the
net and scattered to the far reaches of cyberspace where it
will never be retreived, regardless of copyright infringement!
Stay tuned!

"Use more honey! Find out what she knows!"

in yer bulletin, i read -

In> on the web page there is a section with computerscreens...
In> how come the screen with all of the "John"s is not included?

In> (Or maybe it is and I just missed it?)

he just missed it! maybe his browser window was too small, as the
jpg is quite large and if you don't open up netscape full screen
you are only seeing 2 out of 4 scenes!!
Please advise people of this, and also i have expanded the site
with an interview and other goodies.

also, someone mentioned looking up BB references... there are
quite a few on the page.

if people want to send BBI fiction to me i will put it on the web site.

great job with the mailing list too!

Subj:	"Banzai" reference in "Into the Night"?
Date:	96-04-03 07:11:22 EST
From:	bv374@freenet.toronto.on.ca (Bill van Heerden)

I've read your Buckaroo Banzai FAQ - very nicely done - and I thought I
might ask this question of you. I posted it to the "past movies"
newsgroup, but thought it might be more up your alley.

In the film "Into the Night" (85), as Jeff Goldblum prepares to drive
away from Richard Farnsworth's mansion, he looks up at Michelle Pfeiffer,
gives her a thumbs-up sign and says "Banzai." Do you think this could
possibly be a reference to Banzai? It was released a year afterwards, so
it would still be fresh in Goldblum's mind... and "Into the Night" is
FULL of cameos and in-jokes anyway...

I'd like to hear your opinions.

Thanks,

Bill

Yep, that's one. Others are in "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome" and the recent
"Brady Bunch Movie" (of all places) and "Back To The Future."

Calling all fans of BB.

So glad you're all out there and communicating. I saw the picture first ages
ago, probably when it first came out, and fell in love with it. I spent
about three or more hours watching it a few weeks back to come up with trivia
questions for a Sci-Fi Trivia Challenge Game my Star Trek club put on, a
continuing project to raise money for charity. The copy I got from the video
store was pretty old. I look forward to getting a new copy soon. That was a
blast.

One of the first Trek conventions I went to a few years ago had a great
selection of BB items but I haven't seen much since. I'll be going to a
Creations Con Sunday [ April 14th - ed. ] with Dr. McCoy and Voyager's holographic
doctor. I'll keep a lookout for vendors with BB items.

Finally have some time to spend on line so will tie in with AOL's BB board
soon.

Always on the lookout for BB tie ins - actors other roles, signature sayings
in other films and shows, etc. Need to read War of the Worlds to see where
this whole thing started.

Keep the info coming.

LuSarah, The Intergalactic Tourist

[Ed. note: I was at this Con also, and found the bootleg soundtrack on CD
for $95. I *didn't* get it, so you've still got a shot at it.]

I am helping my local con(MISCON) pick guests and I would love to have
a Buckaroo Con. I live in Missoula, Montana where rumor has it
Christophter Lloyd has a place outside of Missoula and my mother has met
John Lithgow in Kalispell(200 miles from Missoula), where John has a home
and is seen around quite often. I have done everything short of roaming the
streets yelling their names or me and my friends chanting "BIG BOOTAY
BOO-TAY"(actually we did after a late role playing session), IF any one is
interested email me or knows of ways of getting a hold of them.
THE Other one whom I am seeking is the creator of BUckaroo and his world
Earl MacRauch. It would be more than a HONOR to meet and chat with the
man, who brought my hero into being, with many stories still untold, maYBE

Hi Chris,
Just got done downloading some of the things off your FTP site. Thanks a
lot for providing these items to us Blue Blaze Irregulars. Also took time
today to print out hardcopy of the WWatch Newsletters thus far. Nice to have
them all stapled together into a neat group.
Any idea on when we might see the next newsletter/mailing?

Today i also received the Banzai Institute t-shirt and Banzai postcards
I ordered from Starland. Great stuff! I'd also talked to them about getting
any of the remaining newsletters they may or may not have on hand. They sent
me 2! They are:
  Fall 1987 and Winter 1988-89

I tried to check your list on the FAQ list on the Web Site but AOL was
being rinky dinky tonite and couldn't get the file from the host.
Aacckkk!!!!
Do you have these two amongst your collection? If not, I am willing to
photocopy them. I am interested in getting photocopies of those you have but
i can wait to check the FAQ again to see what you do and don't have. By the
way, I'll be sending my contribution to the mailing list sometime this
weekend.

[Ed. note: the URL for Starland is (imaginatively enough) "http://www.starland.com"
(without the quote marks). They've got patches, t-shirts, posters, and postcards. ]

Just leaving my request to get on the mailing list. Buckaroo Banzai
has been my inspiration
ever since I saw the theatrical adaptation of his exploits(following
which I read his comics).
So far I am a practicing musician(jazz though, not rock), only know
one martial art(karate -
purple belt), getting an engineering degree(I don't think I have the
wherewithal to get a
medical degree). So any information I can get on Buckaroo would be
appreciated.

If there is a place I can find the book version of the movie, I would
like to know. Otherwise,
I'll just haunt the used book stores.

Subj:	Intro To Banzai
Date:	96-04-19 17:46:40 EDT
From:	Walkm

My first contact with Buckaroo Banzai came in when the movie was
playing in theaters. I was 21, in the military, and had just seen some
clunker of a movie called MetalStorm. I had also seen some other dogs called
Yor, Hunter From The Future, and Space Pirates. At the time I assumed Banzai
was yet another of these evil mind suckers and avoided it. My next
opportunity was when a co-worker rented it and put it on at two a.m. after a
night of several movies and a super-saturation experiment involving my brain
and alcohol. I recall the title sequence and nothing else from this
incident.
The third time proved to be the charm! Having left the military in to
pursue my music career (sound familiar?) I came across a band playing a club
in the Black Hills. They were from L.A., used a lot of synthesizers, and
called themselves Perfect Tommy. This was 1992, mind you. I chatted with
the band during a break between sets and inquired about the name. Their
keyboard player proceeded to debrief me on the true nature of this film. At
the end of the evening I immediately went to the video store and rented the
movie.
To say the movie struck a chord within me is an understated cliche.
The movie was/is the epitome of what I was looking for. I had been working
on my own concept book involving a musician/electronic engineer/Zen Lunatic
Master. My own work had derived from wanting an updated take on the Doc
Savage story. And here some fellow named Rauch had already beat me to it.
Since 1992 I've been trying to play "catch-up" with regard to all the
memorabilia and such associated with Banzai. I have tracked down the book,
the videotape, script, and postcards. Still desperately searching for the
laserdisc, a headband, Viewmaster Reels, and any stills from the film.
Everyone seems to like the same three or four Banzai quotes but my two
favorites come from the novel.
"There are times when verbal ingenuity is not enough..."

"Consciousness is the impotent shadow of action."

And now this report is, in the words of Prof. Hikkita, "in the laps
of the Gods"
