Greetings all,

Hope this finds everyone hale and hearty.
Winter has *finally* arrived here at the Nor-Cal HQ. Which means
rain, and rain, and later some rain, followed by showers and more
rain.
For those who haven't seen it, Dan Hedaya (John O'Connor) has
a small (like 3 minutes) part in the new Mel Gibson flick, "Ransom."
Some interesting bits below about another possible X-Files, TABB
connection.
Also possible Clancy news, tho' I've had no opportunity to check
myself.
And how are folks doing on the Banzai text adventure?
Something I'm toying with is adding a page to the web sight with links
to member's own web pages. How about it? Buckaroo related or not,
if you want me to link to your page, send an email with the URL, and
if you could, put "URL" or somesuch in the subject line so I don't
leave it sitting for a week or so when I start getting ready to send out
the next mailing.

Until next time...welcome to all the new folks and take care all,
Chris

I found a home page on Steven Williams, M. X in the X-files, in his
filmography, it is said he was in buckaroo banzai. I called, and they
replied that steven williams think he remember playing an alien.
Do anybody knows something about this?
Check out by yourself at :

Howdy,
I introduced myself to the mailing list a few months ago, and mentioned that
I had the trailers for the movie. I was supposed to make a copy of the
trailers, and send it to someone, but during my recent move I lost the
person's e-mail.
I have the copy of the trailers, and was hoping you could post this in the
next newsletter, so I can send the trailers to the place they're supposed to
be!
Yours in all that is Buckaroo,
Dev~

Subj:	HK Cavaliers lineup?
Date:	96-11-05 17:04:51 EST
From:	scooter@universe.digex.net (Steve `Scooter' Kramer)

Hi! Been on for two WW1's now, but I've lurked and never introduced
myself. I'm Scooter (Kramer, not Lindley; there's room for two of us!)
and you can learn all about me from my Web page below. Here's two topics
for a possible discussion I've been thinking of:

1. Why exactly was Ronald Lacey's portrayal of President Widmark so
drastically changed between the Director's Cut (presumably an earlier
take) and the final movie? In the movie, Widmark is easily confused,
waffles a lot, and is something of a blowhard, but in the DC, he's
literally a drooling idiot, confined to his hospital bed for his own
safety. (Buckaroo asks on the way back to the phone booth, "Is he
delirious?" Also, the later line, "Hello, Mr. President...I know your
back is killing you, but we've got a situation..." is missing, indicated
it's not his back that landed him in the hospital.)

2. If a new BB movie were done now, what lineup of the HKC would you use?
Keep in mind that this is 12 years later; plus, Goldblum and Weller have
both had their careers take off, so you might only be able to get one of
them. Also, let's assume that Rawhide really is dead.

I'd say go for Weller and line 'em up this way:

Buckaroo (Weller)
Prof. Hikita	(Ito)
Perfect Tommy (Smith)
Reno (Serna)
Penny Priddy (Barkin)
New Jersey (new actor...yeah, yeah, I know, wouldn't be the same, but...),
Pecos (new actress)
Scooter (Hines or new actor...sure I'm biased, your point?)
new character	(new actor/actress)

Assuming your budget is waaaaay more constrained, do you give Buckaroo a
new bunch of characters or get new actors for the existing ones?

So, go ahead, sign me up!

Okay, so my wife and I fell in love with this movie and missed our one
chance to buy it, (Columbia Video Club actually had it at one time!), so
I'm looking frantically to find it on video. Anyone have it or know
where I can get it? Please let me know...

We love all the cliches and the new ones created by the movie.

We really thought there would be a sequel. Were we nuts?

Signing off, I'm due back in brain surgery, (not mine, but soon)

just got done sequencing the Team March from TABB and put it up on the
website - you can get it either from the Conference Room|Banzai Music
page, or just go grab:

http://bbs.annex.com/relayer/teammrch.mid

i remixed it to the SoundBlaster General Midi format, and it sounds cheesy
through the fm synthesizer, but then everything does! Hopefully you have a
wavetable card or a sound module or something hooked up...

this is the full version, all three verses and the fanfare at the end, about
3:13
this is NOT the short version that opens the pages...

relayer

To follow up a bit from previous issues, has anyone checked out
any of the other versions of "Rocket 88" (the song the HKC were
playing when Buckaroo first saw Penny)?
I picked up the soundtrack to "Great Balls of Fire" which has a
version on it, by Jackie Brenston and the Delta Cats. (the Rugsuckers.
the Kolodny Brothers, now the Delta Cats...)
Anyway, it's a bit slower than BB version, with *lyrics* which was
a shock. Just wasn't expecting that.
I saw when I was looking up the song, something called "Rocket
Boogie 88," but couldn't find it on a CD cheap enough that I wanted
to buy it.
Any reviews from the gallery on this?

Chris
