Greetings,

How's everyone doing? Hope those who want to have a happy Halloween do so.
Got any good stories about it, send 'em in. It's been too quiet around the
Institute lately. Heck, send pics of yourselves in costume and I'll put them on
the web page if you want.
The only thing interesting that's happened personally is being about as close
to a car wreck as one could be without being *in* a car. Was on the sidewalk
when a fender-bender showered me with bits of headlight. That'll get your
mind back on what's going on around you, believe it! (no injuries to anyone,
fortunately)
Don't know how many Tick fans there are here, but on last Saturday's episode
(missed the title, sorry) the leader of the bad guys gave a speech which seemed
heavily influenced by Whorfin's "Where we going?" rant.
I'd be interested to hear who all has downloaded the Buckaroo text adventure,
and how you're doing on it. I haven't messed with it too much myself.

That's all for now.
Take care everyone,
Chris

here's a pub announcement for WWOnline:
*********************************************************
I am pleased to announce that Blue Blaze Station #23 has passed the 8000
visitor mark and continues to grow. Banzai Power is in flower.

you may have visited the Space Annex, a temporary experimental home for
BBS#23. I am pleased to announce the opening of the completely virtual
Banzai Institute, a rendering of the Institute from the film. This version
will run on Netscape 3.0 with the included Live3D plugin or any other VRML
1.0-capable browser.

details may be had by going to:
http://bbs.annex.com/relayer/bifbeasi.htm

you may enter the virtual Institute online, but you will only get structure
and objects, owing to the size and amount of texture maps used in the
virtual Institute, and it will be a rather drab place. A link from the above
page will allow you to DOWNLOAD the ENTIRE Institute, including texture maps
and paintings. The file is 774k zipped and includes the .wrl file so that
you may run BBS#23 off your local computer.

all of the content at BBS#23 is available through the virtual Institute, as
are links; many of the graphics at BBS#23 are included in the texture
download.

enjoy.

Does anyone know of any Buckaroo Banzai fan-base conventions or anything
of the sort on the East Coast? Even in the Washington, DC area?

::Coming up from DownBelow where I've been Lurking::
Hi, fellow BB fans!
I have decided to conduct a survey, and figured the best place to start would
be right here on the mailing list. The survey is simple, and consists of
only one question:
Why *was* the watermelon there?
I know about the answer given in the Battletech book. I am looking for YOUR
ideas on the matter. When I have collected enough responses, I will clean it
up and post it for everyone to enjoy. If you have a favorite theory, or even
a one-liner, about the infamous watermelon, please send it to me at
HMMURDOC@aol.com
Also, if anyone out there has BB webpages, I'd appreciate it if you could
post this on those so I can reach even more fans.
Thanks a whole lot,
Liz

There are several movies at the core of infrequent film festivals here
and there...along the Rio Grande rift. Buckaroo Banzai is pre eminent and
has been since 1984. Streets of Fire - another film from that
year...what was going on? And why isn't it anymore? Before that, Rancho
deLuxe...did too many people inhale in the intervening years? Not enough?
What??? Or, has reality eclipsed it all. Is that why no one optioned AC
Weisbecker's seminal work in 1986 - Cosmic Banditos??? Just wanted to
know. John Parker for President.

Hi--My husband went to high school with Mack Rauch--Dr. Lizardo was their
name for one of their friends who did the walk-- so some of this stems from
early high school I'm fascinated that their are so many fans of this movie

Hello Chris and fellow BBF,s
Well after many many years I have now found someone else who likes
Buckaroo just as I do. My name is Jason Templeton (zorran is my dogs name)
I am nearly twenty eight and I live in South Australia with my wife Debbie.
I first saw BB around ten or more years ago but have been unable to find
another copy to watch for the last five. I hope that you will allow my
humble personage to become a member of your group. Bye for now I must be
off to bed as I must be up early tomorrow for work.

anyways, an amusing thing this morning:

on the front page of the Denver Post is a
PICTURE OF A JET CAR SPEEDING ACROSS A DESERT!
with the headline "Driver survives 675mph crash"

copy reads:
"Craig Breedlove's jet-powered car, seen here making a practice run at
563mph Sunday, was tipped by a crosswind during an attempt at the land speed
record yesterday in the Nevada desert, causing it to careen across Nevada's
Black Rock Desert as it reached 675mph. Breedlove, 59, was shaken but
uninjured after the car went out of control, missed a crowded spectator area
by about a half a mile, and finally came to rest about 2 miles off the race
track."

i see Buckaroo is keeping incognito on this one, but i bet it was xan's evil
minions who were responsible for this dastardly "crosswind", if that's what
it really was...

i sure hope this picture appeared in other newspapers to delight BBI's
everywhere.

regards,
relayer
